Who is right and wrong in this fight?

My boyfriend and I had a fight because I said , in his words , a stupid fact. I read that if you stick to one drink for the whole night you’ll get less of a hangover than drinking an array of different drinks. He said this isn’t true and it’s a stupid thing to say. Then I said let’s google it and see. He says anyone that gets information from google is stupid too everyone knows it isn’t correct.

He got so annoyed about this debate that he said he’s sick of me saying stupid things and that he told me stop because he has to listen to it all the time. I got so angry I said “get over yourself you have to listen to it , stop being a snowflake and get over it, if that’s the worst you have to put up with then you’re lucky”.

Was I wrong to say that?

I really don't think it's worth debating in a relationship since debating is intended to persuade judges, not the opposition, and what does it matter whether or not either of you think mixing drinks will lead to a worse hangover?

It does sound to me like he's the one who needs to develop a thicker skin and mature a bit, but if I could talk to you both, I'd recommend to both of you to avoid debating in the sense of seeing the goal as proving the other wrong. Focus on the goal of sharing and becoming closer to each other.

Well I shared a fact and he proceeded to tell me I’m wrong and stupid so he started the debate not me I don’t even see what I did wrong

Yeah, it really sounds like he took it in a bad way. Still with a long-term relationship, there will be times even in the best case where someone is unreasonable. It helps not to escalate in those cases and be the bigger person if you want to keep the relationship going (if not, then to hell with it and you can just say whatever).

Well to him me being the bigger person would be admitting that yes I am stupid and say stupid things all the time and I need to work on that. I’m mostly very reasonable , he is definitely not. I even asked him to change the subject and he just said no because he’s annoyed now

That sounds like he's completely unreasonable in that case. He might need to mature a bit to have a chance for things to work out. I would still say, "Stop being a snowflake," is probably not going to make most people become more reasonable if they have any chance.

My wife and I are both unreasonable and stubborn from time to time. Yet we never fight since, when the other is being unreasonable, we don't escalate, we deescalate and work things out and talk it out. That doesn't mean we have to admit the other person is right and we're wrong. It's like we can peacefully agree to disagree over hugs and laughs.

I get the comment wasn’t the right thing to say but he was frustrating me and making it out to be a bigger deal than it was. We never usually agrees to disagree, someone has to be right or wrong and it was me wrong in this case.

Makes sense and very understandable. Mainly I think it's valuable no matter how bad our partners are to try to look for ways to improve our own behavior, if only to become better for future partners.

Google gives websites that each need to be evaluated on their own merit - not like Google gives you one answer…. But that’s beside the point

I would try to have a conversation with him to tell him how what he said made me feel and take it from there. I’d expect an apology and a reason for why he reacted that way.

I don’t want to make an assumption about him based on one incident though. We can all have a bad day and make mistakes - but if this is a common way for him to react, I would re- evaluate my relationship …

relationships are built on respect and if that’s not there, then I am not sure it can work in the long run

I'm not sure if that's necessarily true. I do know that if you consume several different kinds of drinks -- like hard liquor and wine, or beer and wine, etc, you're more likely to get sick and/or have a hangover the next day, but the most reliable way to avoid a hangover is to drink a lot of water or Gatorade, etc, before you go to bed.

No offense, but your boyfriend sounds like a dipshit. It doesn't matter what you drink in terms of your BAC and level of intoxication--all that matters is the alcohol content--but it most certainly DOES matter EXACTLY what you drink in terms of the hangover afterwards.

Hangovers come from drinking too much, doesn't matter what. That said, anecdotal evidence says mixing drinks make it worse.
