What makes a men open up about personal things to a complete stranger?

Anonymous

This has happened to me a few times. The first time this happened a guy randomly starts opening up to me about how he suffered the burns he did and how he also lost his sister. He also went on to reveal how he had just lost his workmate to suicide before also revealing other things to me. He asked for my number, but I never heard from him at all.

Another guy randomly opens up and tells me how he did time for armed robbery and how he was told by the courts he was not to enter this particular state for a minimum of 2 years, and if he did, he would be arrested as he had committed a crime there. Basically he was banned from entering that state as he was not a local and not from there.

More recently, while at the hospital, this guy, who I thought was a visitor, told me he was actually a patient before going on to tell me in detail about why he was in the hospital.

Yet when it comes to guys who claim they are interested in being in a relationship with me, I can never get them to open up to me at all, and when they do, I later find out it was a complete lie. Why are guys who are complete strangers happy to be open and honest, but guys who claim they want a relationship want to lie to me?
