Is he flirting or just being a jerk?

So I've known this guy over a month and we met on the bus going to school but we don't have any classes together. I kind of like him but I'm getting mixed signals from him. He is always tickling me but he also pushes me like into the road, signs, people, and parked cars. He makes a lot of mean/sarcastic jokes but he apologizes for it and hugs me but then he does it all over again. He also keeps bringing up girls like, "Yeah I know this girl and I'm always slapping her ass but it's OK because we're good friends" and today he was telling me about the homecoming dance on Saturday and he said "I had (lists off names of cheerleaders) grinding on me and it was pretty hot". Don't get me wrong, he's not a d***-wad but I don't know if he's flirting, being a jerk, or whatever. Any advice on what to do or what this might mean is very appreciated!

All of your comments we're good and you sounded just as unsure as I am ha ha But should I tell him to stop doing what he's doing? I don't think he is trying to be a jerk but that's how it's comming off as :/

He kind of sounds like an idiot who has no idea how to go about expressing to a girl that he likes her.

The whole treating you poorly then apologizing/hugging you thing, in addition to trying to make you jealous by talking about other girls so much, is just a clear signal that he is out of control and doing things a bit too strongly, and he probably does not even realize it. I can definitely see how all of that is confusing to you, and if I were in your shoes I would feel very put-off... (I'm personally not a fan of guys who constantly talk about other girls in some sort of desperate attempt to make you get jealous and somehow want them more.)

This is assuming he actually likes you.

first off...saying mean stuff like what?

and when he said he slaps girls butts you should say "i'd slap you right in the face if you did that to me" lol some guys really respect a girl who'll say stuff like that I've seen it in action. when he said the thing about the cheerleaders you should have said "it just makes you a player it's really not that cute" at least that way he knows you don't find that kind of thing funny or cute. either way you are setting up the kind of girl YOU are vs those other girls. He'll either respect that about you and it'll make him like you more or he'll be like "oh she's a good girl. movin on!" which is a good thing too.

A lot of guys do stupid things when they're interested in a girl, and the things you describe sound childish yes, but I think it's his way to show he's interested - not sure if only to be your friend or something more... He is being a little bit of a jerk.

Are you interested? If you are, does his ways bother you much? You can tell him to stop pushing you around and see what he's reaction is.

If you only want him as a friend, I'd recommend don't give it too much thought and put a little space on things, if he wants your friendship he'd be the one looking for you.

Im not sure if I'm getting that he likes you, his behavior is a little bit hard to read.

He could possibly be bringing up other girls to make you jealous (if he does like you.)

Completely hard to tell. Because he talks about other girls, it could be his weird way of trying to make you jealous? But I would just be like, "Why do you do that?"
