It may or may not work. It depends on what works for you.
My flatmate has social anxiety and she tried group therapy, but she felt really uncomfortable talking about her social anxiety to others. So instead she joined this music therapy group and she found it helped her a lot, to the point she even started to go to small get togethers
So, what I'm attempting to say is; try group therapy and see how it works for yourself, you'll be the best judge of that. If it's not to your liking there are other forms of therapy available to help you manage your social anxiety

i can see how it could help since it'd make you interact with other people.
If you get anxious socially, part of what will help is being social anyways. But most of the reason you get anxius is because you care to much, so you gotta figure out how to stop caring what people think.
