Focused muscle relaxation leading into meditation.
What I do is lie in bed, ventilate heavily for 30seconds, purging my lungs, then work towards lowering my respiratory rate. Once I'm breathing very deep, maybe one breath every 15-20 seconds, I begin focusing on my muscles starting at the top of my head and work my way down to my toes. I clench and slowly relax them individually.
This takes me between 10-15minutes and by the time I reach my toes my entire body is not only relaxed but also feeling good in a tingly sort of way.
Then I do a personalized workout to relax my mind. I do this by focusing on imagery and journey to a place of my own making. I take extra time to focus on all the little details and create an in depth picture of my virtual surroundings. Once I have fully constructed what ever place it is I'm creating, I talk to a version of myself, of which I confront what ever questions or concerns that are plaguing my consciousness.
This takes me anywhere from 20minutes upwards of an hour depending on the day.
From there I drift off into nothingness for awhile; not asleep but nether am I awake; much like a dreaming state where time stands still but with less emphasis on a dream.
And at one point or another I fall asleep and wake up in the morning...

Honestly, if none of these other guys are gonna say it, Masturbation. Knock most people right out, cause it tends to get your body tired, and put out.
If your not into that.
Well you have three other options I use:
NightQuil Sleeping Aid, none addictive, works very well, and tends to leave you semi-refreshed in the morning, not fully refreshed but hey its sleep you forced its never gonna be fully refreshed no matter how long you sleep.
Caffine Crash (Warning Do not attempt if you have a heart problem, high blood pressure, or don't believe in computer entertainment) - 1 5-Hour Energy, 1 Monster Energy Drink (or two Red Bulls), and a 2-liter of your favorite soda, begin this process 6 hours before you want to get sleep. (Chug it all in one sitting within about 5 - 7 minutes. Be prepared for temporary ADHD effects. By the end of it (6 hours later) (Make sure you don't consume anything else), you'll crash, and hard. Process is sped up and more effective by adding Alcohol after 2 hours.
Post-Sleep Exercise, warning you'll ache in the morning.
i used to have insomnia. still do a bit but now im just always exhausted. i can't go to sleep without listening to music or having something playing on tv. i need a distraction otherwise my thoughts get the best of me and im laying there with a thousand things going through my mind and when i look at the clock, there's only a couple hours left till i have to get up. unless im extremely tired, then ill just pass right out. i dont know what helped my insomnia though. it just kind of passed, thank god
On YouTube if you look up relaxing sounds or relaxation music that usually helps me. Or you can by natural sleep meds that you don't need a prescription for. They help a lot FYI. I have the ones that you swallow but there's also Zquil that is the syrup kind of stuff. You can also microwave some water and and honey and that always works as well.

Avoid looking at a screens (pc, tv, phone) in the last
hour before you're going to bed.
I don't know if you're doing any of those, but that's
supposedly one of the causes people have trouble
falling asleep.
Another one, but that's most likely just preference
or something like that, but I've found it much easier
to fall asleep when lying on my stomach, instead of my back.
I also have a difficult time falling asleep, like I need to
drink water, and I need to have an open window
or I can't sleep at all.. many things could be the cause. ^.^White noise, I found that when I try to breathe using my Diaphragm (abdominal breathing) I feel tired really quickly. Some people say hot showers because your body cools down before it goes to sleep generally.
You could take pills but supposedly that just makes it harder if you can't take them for some reason.I always listem to some coldplay before sleep. Just music. I love it, so i jam pack my day around music a lot
i too roll over in bed sometimes... i just watch a video in my mobile, in order to calm down and fall asleep
Reading sometimes helps me.
Listening to really relaxing music - lately it's been the classical performances of 2CELLOS.
A long hot bath relaxes me.
Being talked to sleep, or read to.I work out sometimes, shower after & fall asleep like a baby.
Melatonin Pills and a chamomile and mint mix of tea.
Sex and no this no joke. A good hour of nice sex, and them sleep ZZZzzzz
Usually just ASMR stuff if I really can't sleep. Or just messing around on the internet until I get too tired to stay up.
ASMR videos on YouTube :)
Hugging my body pillow.
A bottle of wine... Or two
Listening to the classic music.
Music/ or a boring T. V. show.
Vigorous hot sex!
