I used weights for lunges and now my legs ache so much. Is this normal?

I started using weights at the gym. I do about 50 lunges with the third and second lightest weights. Ever since I did them last weekend Its really painful to do them again. I was at the gym yesterday and I tried doing ten and it hurt so much. Is this normal? Should I stop doing them until the pain is completely gone?
Also if I do 50-100 of these wil my thighsl slim down my thighs?

ps. I DO know that the aching is normal after exercising! However, how long should I wait to do these exercises again? Is it okay to exercise even if there is still come pain as I don't want to wait forever to do them again.
