My mom has said to me every single day since I was little: "don't let yourself go." meaning, dont gain weight. Her and my dad have struggled with their weight my whole life. I've gotten to a point where I can't eat with people watching me because I'm horrified that they are judging me (for example, I can't eat in food courts without having serious anxiety). I don't starve myself, but I always feel guilty after eating and I can't help but judge people when I see them eating. I still eat of course but I have a lot of psychological problems surrounding food and eating. I really don't know what to do about it?
I understand how it can be really hard and scary to work up the courage to go see someone after it feels like things went poorly, but it doesn't sound like you're very happy now and that's not fair to you. You deserve to have a healthy relationship within yourself instead of carrying around all this fear and anxiety. Try looking for someone new and ask if they have any experience dealing with food anxiety to set yourself up for a better experience.
