Honestly know, playing just dance for an hour or two won't do much at all. It might do a little bit but after a few weeks your body will adapt to it and you'll reach what is called the plateau effect. Your best bet is to join a gym. I know you're saving for college, but gyms have offers as low as $10 a month. My old gym actually only charged me $5 a month because I joined with a family member. I'm sure you spend way more money on other things per month, so just spend $10 less on those things and invest in a gym membership. Also there are so many great work out and instructional videos on youtube, you just have to find the one you like. I'm also assuming you have internet since you posted this question so there is no need for a personal trainer if you have access to YouTube's workout channels. I can't post links, but go to YouTube and type in "watchmojo top 10 women's fitness channels," find one you like, join a gym and go from there

Go to a gym, have one of the trainers draft a programme for you and work hard at the gym every second day.
Of course, you're using energy by dancing and you're whole body takes part in it so it is an exercise. It's also more fun than doing plain cardio exercises and I think the mix of different workouts helps you get fitter faster. So go for it, dance away lol
Most dancers have a very lean and trained body (look at clips). So if you do enough and ointensively, yes, it will help.

lol I can run for 5 miles easy, but 5 minutes of DDR and I'm dying.
Any exercise helps. Any exercise is better than no exercise as long as it is making you sweat and raising your heartbeat to desired levels.

Oh I do Dance Central! Dancing burns calories. And it's funnn!
Won't make a difference if you aren't on a caloric deficit. It'll burn some calories, won't be that much though.
