You'll lose muscle mass pretty quickly which isn't good. I recommend trying something like a vegetarian, vegan or paleo diet. Avoid processed foods.

But honestly, any calorie deficit paired with exercise will help
You need protein to live so if you said chicken salad I would say YES!!! pure salad? no.
