Does your weight change over the seasons?
How about you people? Does your weight stay the same all the time? Or does it change with the seasons?
Generally speaking the vast majority of people tend to lose more weight in the summer. (from going out and doing activities, swimming, theme parks, zoo, etc etc. ) Then gain that weight back around fall s it cools down and often a bit more in the winter, as if their bodies are protecting them, prepping to hibernate. Moreover, it is common to put on weight around the holidays because of Thanksgiving and Christmas but also because people generally split into two groups around the holidays, Extremely happy or Depressed. Both can lead to weight fluctuations and the stress of the holidays, Christmas shopping, cooking all day, taking your siblings/kids to see Santa, etc etc. Can all be factors in the stress. Lastly a lot of people being to trim back down in the Spring because of their "New Years Resolution," but also because it is getting warmer out so they are becoming less sedentary again and are also taking off their parkas and noticing the weight gain. Not to mention how many fruits are in season in the spring and summer which are additional factors.
It would be very difficult to pinpoint the main cause but as far as I know season effects most people's weight.
Yup I feel you girl 😭
But I'm finally starting to work against it paying more attention to my diet and raising my level of exercise during fall and winter.
Your theory with the rise in stress levels might be true if you're a stress eater, if not I could only think of that human instinct to "eat more to get a protection layer against the cold in winter" - I've heard of that in a documentary once and it made sense to me if you think back a few centuries when people didn't have full central heating and warm jackets in winter yet, however, we don't actually need it anymore so I wish that instinct would just go away!
Also, during the lack of sunshine in fall your serotonin ("happy hormone") levels are lower so you tend to subconsciously crave foods that are making your body produce more serotonin (like potatoes and pasta) and those foods unfortunately can make us gain some weight, too, if we aren't careful.
That's a lot of valuable information. Definitely is unfair :(
Honestly, I don't pay attention to my weight much. My high metabolism with addition to exercise keeps me pretty lean/fit. If I had to guess, my weight stays about the same though.
I'll skip the science behind stress eating and the neuroendocrine system... I'll just leave it at: School stress is known to cause weight gain or even make it more difficult to lose weight. Especially if you are a "stress eater."
It also makes it more difficult to get sick because your body fights off infection less. So if you are ever wondering why you or someone you know may get sick during holidays, it is because your immune system kicks in during the moments of break and fights off the diseases built up in your body over the semester.
Good to know 👍
Thansk for MHO
I get fat during exams lol
I prefer to study than to go outside and run with the butterflies so I guess thats why.
Hmmm 3 lbs gain. Are you sure than can't be contributed to an irregular bowel movement xD? Happened to me once in my gym rat phase when I was bulking up. Thought I gained muscle weight but it turns out I was just constipated and after I went to the potty my gain got flushed away :P. Apologies to the people eating haha
I'm pretty sure that's nit the reason lmao

Honestly, my weight has been staying constant since I was 12 till the beginning of this year (probably around March), maybe just slightly gain of one or two pounds, but its mostly around 86lbs. This year in March I went up to 92lbs and it's been like that till now. I don't know why its difficult for me to gain weight tho, I eat so much yet I could barely gain a pound. :/
If you're a mesomorph or a meso-ectomorph, then this is very normal. So long as you don't have a tapeworm or other chronic disease, you have nothing to worry about. Weight generally evens out with time/age. Puberty brings on all sorts of weird changes. Don't expect it to level out until your 20s.
Every fall, at the first cold snap, I get this ravenous appetite for about a week, gain 3-5 pounds of blubber that I call my "winter coat" and then I'm not cold again all winter. Every spring, first time I'm uncomfortably warm, I lose my appetite for about a week and lose 3-5 pounds and then I'm in my summer body. Maybe wearing a blubber coat makes me part whale, but I kinda like that my body keeps me comfortable this way.
i lean out a lot every summer, i think its because i am awake more and working a lot...
During the fall and winter i gain weight, because i tend to be less physically active
maybe you are getting ready for hibernation ;) lol!
Lol yeah just like my cats, they're getting fatter too.
you have cats?
Yeah, a lot of them -_-
My cat lady 😍😍😍😍
Well, technically they are my mom's! Lol!
Still my cat lady <3
and tell your mom i say hi :)
Lol 😂
whats so funny? <3
nothiiiiing 😛
Yup... I weigh 160 lbs right now at 5'10'' and by winter I go to 165 to 170. I think my diet changes a little based on their being less fresh veggies available?
Comfort foods come into play too... ones that other people make. These tend to be higher in fat, then my summer fare!
Nope I stay pretty static I mean my weight changes because I weight lift and I gain muscle weight but it doesn't change due to the seasons. I have high metabolism so I can eat and eat and eat and not worry, now if you excuse me I think I see a turkey dinner that requires my attention.
I tend to gain over the winter - just because outdoor activities are precluded by the weather to a certain extent. That, combined with it being nice to stay inside where it's warm and eat hearty foods means I gain.
Heavy meals isn't nice in the summer, light stuff and lots of exercise in the nice weather is.
Oh for sure. Around the holidays (especially when I lived up North where it was cold) I would pack on the bacon over winter. I wouldn't be fat by any means but I'd definitely run on average 15% more weight. Then summer would roll around and I'd go outside and be more active and get to a lower average weight.
Now that I live in a warmer climate I'm always outside and as such my weight has stabilized. Beach day at least 3 days a week.
how are you so light? :P i can bench press you! you must be short? :) to answer your question, i tend to lose weight in winter and i stay the same in the summer. but i ski in the winter so the extra work could play into that.
I'm not short, I'm average, 5'5 lol.
I don't know how long ago your profile pic was taken but you look anorexic and sickly skinny. Don't take this as me bashing you cause I'm just being honest. 116lbs is nothing to complain about and quite frankly... I think you need to go up to 125lbs.
Haha, I'm definitely not anorexic!!! xD I look skinnier in photos lol
You wouldn't think I'm anorexic irl
That's true, people do look different in photos sometimes lol.
I weighed as much as 217 this past winter and I eventually dropped down to 202 this summer. I did start to eat better but I think in general I'm much more active during the warmer parts of the year which would explain the weight loss. Guess I'll see if I can anyway weight once autumn and fall come lol.
I would add weight during the summer - I tend to play more football and train more during autumn/winter/spring - I am 173 at the moment and on a diet to get it down 160/165 which I believe is my natural weight range or close to it.
Yeah... Last year I was fat as fuck and over the summer I lost 40 pounds, but I keep it down because I work out and go to the gym.
That's a lot! Awesome! :)
Thanks :)
I don't weigh myself, like, ever. So I actually have no idea how much I weigh. The last time I weighed myself was probably back in high school when I had phys ed.
Negligable differences only... I'm fairly stable at my 62 kg level (136 lbs), all year round.
Ho to do that: eat and do sports at a regular pace - it just works automatically :D
Mine is always going through 124 lbs. - 129 lbs. and it sucks because I want to be at 118 lbs., and no matter how much I workout it just doesn't happen. u3u
mine never changes
same weight and shape since age 14
So you gain weight when you're stressed. Interesting, I tend to lose weight.
Anyways my body weight does change through seasons. In a year my weight can change 18 kg. But that's on purpose.
It used to for sure. I would lose weight in the Spring but gain a few pounds in the Winter. Lately I just keep losing weight, due to medical reasons.
It depends, on was in try to do with my physic, I'm normally 160-170 in season (April- September) or 185-195 in the off-season (October-March)
