What sickness does your mother have? I have been in your shoes... it's scary, it's shocking, it takes your breath away. Go ahead and use sleep supplements to help you sleep, because a stressed out wandering mind needs help. Take benadryl or melatonin.
Do you have a religion? If so, prayer will help clear your head and help you keep optimistic. Do you have any family friends or family by you? You need their support and they need yours.
Your mind is processing a reality... know your mother is in good hands and we all hope she will recover fine. When you start seeing improvements in her, celebrate them. Find happiness in any good sign.

Try to relax yourself, focus on other things so they will distract you from the thoughts, and hope everything will be fine.

When I'm having anxiety issues I either sit outside near a lot of greenery if I'm in a rural area or I drive around usually at night in a city. I just look for as much open space with as few people as possible. And I just let go. I talk to myself about what's scaring me. I go ahead and cry if I need to. I just get super honest with myself as honest as possible. What I learned is the sad/scary stuff doesn't go away but after just letting all of the stuff pent up inside go and just letting myself get 100% vulnerable somewhere I often feel okay with the situation. I don't like the situation but I usually regain and strengthen my confidence in my ability to get through it all. Everybody has a different system you just gotta find yours.
Tell yourself that she is definitely going to be all right. You won't even notice how the placebo takes effect and you'll eventually believe your words without a doubt. And visit her every day. I hope the best for you, dude.

Pray about it and put it in God hands and try to get some rest. I'm sure if your mom could talk to you she wouldn't want you hurting because she love you.
