These fitness models are the way they are because their religion is all about dieting and working out and worrying about self-image and what other people think.
What's your take?
I'm a professional fitness model. I also HATE perfectionism, and I HATE perfectionists.
The single thing I enjoy the most about fitness is that the human body -- like me -- hates perfectionism.
To get to those inhumanly low levels of bodyfat, you MUST "cheat" on a regular basis. I'm talking at least once or twice a week, you have to "refeed" on relatively junky stuff, unless you are in a pre-contest cutting phase (during which you actually lose a non-trivial amount of lean mass, but... that's what happens when you don't cheat).
Ya know what's even better? The lower you go in bodyfat -- i. e., the more fit you are -- the MORE often you have to enjoy "cheat" meals.
I mean, sure, there are certain kinds of indulgence that the fitness lifestyle just won't allow.
Drinking? Hahahah forget it (alcohol has LOTS of calories, and it completely shuts down all other types of metabolism -- in other words, yr body doesn't metabolize ANYTHING else until it has completely cleared the alcohol).
Recreational downers (weed, opiates)? Nope.
Etc.
But, yeah.
The perfectionists will get their own karma soon enough. They'll end up with "overtraining syndrome", which is really, really nasty. Messed-up hormones, inability to sleep, grumpy moods, sexual dysfunction, and -- in the king of all ironies -- worse physical shape, and a predisposition to injury.
Srsly, if you think fitness is about perfectionism, then you don't understand fitness.
Also, I hate to bust anyone's idealistic little bubble, here, but:
If you have an awesome diet and training plan but you don't look like a professional fitness model, then, that's not because the model is more of a perfectionist than you.
Nope.
It's because the model has better drugs.
(Especially men)
Also, it takes MONTHS to lose significant muscle tone. If you know anyone who's afraid that they'll lose significant lean mass over "a holiday", then, you know someone who is an idiot.
In fact, anyone who works out hard enough actually NEEDS to take 1-2 weeks off, every 6-8 weeks, so as to avoid the nastiness of overtraining syndrome (as described above).
Again, the human body hates perfectionists.
I agree, there's a point where it just becomes too much. Obviously, speaking about models, it's their job to keep themselves fit, but there are so many normal girls (and guys) who are sooo afraid to eat, it's an obsession. I used to date a guy who was like that and it used to be "tiring": we would go out and I would basically eat alone all the time. I do think we all should eat well to keep our bodies healthy and clean, but some people just take it to another level.
Espacially models who are working out can eat more than others who don't work out. And you should not become a model if you're normal body is not skinny. This would not be healthy, but believe me, i am also very skinny and can enjoy food like many others who are skinny.
This comment, skinny people would not enjoy food is completely wrong - sorry
So I am attracted to toned model bodies - yes, why not...
You invent and support an image about skinny people which is not true. This is not fair.
If i would ask the oposite, what would you answer?
No. And for just those reasons you stated.
The lifestyle differences are just too big.
Oddly enough I feel the same way about drug addicts and alcoholics for exactly the same reasons.
They both have two things in common - poor self esteem and compulsive traits.

I'm not. I don't worry 24/7 about my body/diet/self-image so I'd get irritated if I were to be with someone like that. Being concious of your health/fitness is fine by my, just don't let it become an obsession. As you said, I enjoy good food, I live only once ( as far as I know ) so no way in hell I'm gonna worry the next 80+ years about that shit 24/7.
Eat well but know how to eat pasta and not obsess. It is a religion, one I don't subscribe too and for someone to obsess over something isn't mentally healthy. I have to watch my food for thyroid reasons but I know people who obsess and get mad when you think Iys unhealthy. Any obsession isn't healthy.
"afraid to enjoy good food because of calories"
Pssh, it's the fat girls that are really afraid of these. They just have no self-control to stop eating so much.
That being said. Fit people can eat whatever the fuck they want because self-control isn't absent.
People who demonize fitness freaks for being too obsessed generally are just overplaying those tendencies to justify their unhealthy lifestyle and diet.
Most "fitness freaks" enjoy life too, in fact more, since they are hot and healthy as well.
Just because someone eats shit only once or twice a week instead of 20 times a week, doesn't mean they are "afraid to enjoy good food".
no, never I don't like perfect body it's annoying. Like if I cook for him and he just want dietetic food, he would brother me a lot, I like eating and I love food a lot, there is no way I can be with a person who is afraid to gain one pounds and work out everyday for gain muscle. If I'm hungry I eat, no need to calculate calories. He would give me a headache.
I don't deny that I am attracted to that body type/level of fitness. But then again... I'm kind of one of those people myself. Not too extreme, but I enjoy working out and eating right so... yeah, I'm drawn to people who feel the same.
I share your reasons there. I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself, food wise, if she wasn't able to enjoy herself.
I respect people who have the discipline to live a life like that. It's easy to enjoy "good" food or let yourself go during holidays. I don't think it's necessarily them worrying about what others think but them keeping up with their life style cause that's what it is, a life style. It's a way of living that you and other people who don't do it will never understand
I'm attracted to those type of bodies but she has to be able let her guard down every once in a while. Ever heard of cheat days, dawg?
I couldn't care less as long as they're not too fat or too skinny it's fine. I'm a sucker for cute faces though.
I have dated people with those kind of bodies. It was glorious, and surprisingly maintenance free.
You shouldn't be so quick to judge their eating habits.
yes but u do know that some people are naturally skinny and some are vegans so they eat whatever they want (not dairy or meat stuff ofc) and have that kind of body :)
I think it should be 80/20! 80% of the time you eat well and 20% of the time you live your life and try amazing food!!
Yeah, it also allows you to live more active lifestyles
Models? I prefer athletes. Strenght and functionality over aesthetics anyday.
Yes I am. Most of them can enjoy good food, they just don't pig out on it like a lot of people.
I don't like it either. It's too much in my opinion. However a lot of gagers like that body type because I guess everyone is perfect here.
People who work out constantly can eat whatever they want.
it's not attractive at all to me, but i do admire their effort
I'm not. I actually see myself as more of a chubby chaser.
