Why do people make it seem so hard to lose weight?

On shows like The biggest loser, Oprah, Dr Oz there are always people crying about how overweight they have become and how they let their life go and want it back blah blah

But it's not that hard! you just put the donut down, lift your ass off the couch and go for a run everyday.

I did it, I'm 20 years old and lost 30 kilos from nothing but a healthy diet and vigorous exercise...it's really not hard and there is ALWAYS time to exercise. People are just SO LAZY.

If it's just laziness then they have no reason to complain about it, It's their fault. (But it's completely understandable if it's glandular, emotional or some other health problem)
