To be cynical, because it is true.
There is always someone else who is more successful or more happy or more rich or more spiritually enlightened etc. AND more content with their situation than you.
To compare ourselves using one metric of success or even 6, there will always be someone better. It is not until we accept our own contentedness that we can appreciate what we do even have.
We all know the adage when you have everything ot have achieved everything you can still be unhappy. This person needs to do inward reflection to realize our own happiness comes from our ability to let ourselves feel happy, not from some arbitrary notion of what we need to be happy.

Oddly I never had it. It might sound a bit egostical but when I tried a new sport, for example, and failed miserably and repeatedly, that just made me want to try harder. I always figured something I'm horrible at means I stand the greatest room for improvement, and improvement tends to come the fastest in those cases (ex: beginner gains for someone who just started working out).
I think if we see the potential in ourselves to improve at anything we do, there's nothing to be so negative about with respect to ourselves since we're a moving target.
Not sure what you mean about you all, speak for yourself not the rest of us. I think you need to do some serious self reflection, and make what change you need to make to become the best version of yourself.
If you can't love yourself then you can never truly love another person... and honestly over time they will figure that out about you and the relationship will die.
