There's no need for it to be removed. Ever heard of beauty warts :)
Seriously though, how long have you had it? For ages isn't very precise. And I really don't think any home remedy is the best thing for it. I've had one on the palm under the pink. Where a lot of people tend to get some calluses. It went away within a week and half. Felt like for ages too.

The freeze method is the easiest & painless - they even sell a kit @ the drugstore for DIY
... better than the Prep W liquids that take forever & might not work.
Some have luck with duct tape which seals out air but this could take a week or so.
You can buy the at home freeze off, but nothing at home is really good. I used to have like 3 when I was in sports back in High school, my Dr. said I got them from the locker room -_____- yuck, but yea, he froze them off and I have never had any since :) It really didn't hurt or anything, so that's honestly all I recommend, the rest is a waste of money

I had one years ago on the palm of my hand. I tried the wart bandage strip things but the ones from the U.S. don't seem to be as effective as the ones from Mexico. I almost got rid of it with the Mexican ones but I ran out. The thing that made it go away was the compound w freeze away kit that you can buy at walmart or cvs. I would basically cut off the wart and then just freeze the base of it. It took like three applications over time to get rid of it. It doesn't hurt at all.
