Can eating a diverse diet help you lose weight?

I think the reason rich people tend to be skinnier than poor people is that they eat a larger variety of foods than poor people.

I don't believe it's because they exercise or have more self control, cause the ones I know that are genetically thin, are too busy to exercise and are no different from others.

I've seen rich people go to a restaurant and order around 12 dishes with each dish containing 10 ingredients inside it, so they are consuming around 80 types of food in a single meal such as corn, green peas, asparagus, water chestnuts, okra etc... this is for parties where 15 people show up, not single person meals.

While poor people will eat French fries twice a week, and their variety might be 20% what a rich person eats.
