Because they're NOT the same thing. I worked with this chick that was 5'11" and hotter than hell. But she just happened to be over 200lbs.
Now I know you're going to point out, "hey jackhole, she's 5'11". And you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. But that's what I'm talking about your gender equates weight to being FAT. I can't tell you how Many horrible b****es I've seen on here that tell other women anything over 140 and they might as well head to the trough.
Fat is FAT
Weight=a combination of water, fat and muscle.
You can actually weigh more and be oodles healthier than a skinny b****.

If someone calls you fat, most likely, there's some truth to it. You should use it as motivation to lose some weight and get fit and healthy. You'll feel more confident and live a better standard of life as well as potentially living longer.
People feel so entitled nowadays and want to cancel every word that can be seen as even remotely offensive.
Depends on the person, I think it sounds more polite. But some people rather you not use any adjectives to describe their current state of body. Fat, overweight, pudgy, obese, etc., there are many other terms I’ve seen people use. (other terms to placate others so they don’t snap at them.) Also how you go around saying it especially the tone of your voice can be what keeps the conversation cordial.
It doesn't matter how it sounds as long as you work on it to get a better weight. Its not the word that makes you lean, its the action.

I don't know, does using the words "mentally deficient" sound better than the word "retard"? I guess it depends on who is saying it to whom, and in which context they are saying it? Would you want someone to call you fucking goofy?
I love a woman with a big, fat ass, and there's no need to mince words -- Fat is where it's at, and I don't discriminate against the supersized girls, either
overweight is not known what the range should be. but fat is precise and known because visible.
According to BMI measurements I am considered overweight but I could not be considered fat.
The term overweight can mean different things
Yeah, but many people should be called obese, because they are more than 30 pounds overweight.
no, sugar coating doesn't make it sweeter, just easier to swallow.
They don't technically mean the same thing, however, and words matter.
Nicer is irrelevant. The truth is the truth. If people can't handle the truth then they should exit society.
I would prefer fat because you can burn off fat. Overweight sounds like I’m never going to lose weight. But that’s just me.
it still comes down that you are too short for your weight.
Yes, I think so, the word fat is a very heavy word, I generally don't tell people's weight and height to their face
No. I think it's worse based on trying to be nice instead of honest.
i think we should destigmatize the word fat
