Actually it's no big deal.
I say that because I've had surgery dozens of times and this is p*ss in a bucket in comparison.
IF YOU ARE LUCKY then it will be like me. I was put under general anaesthetic (knocked out cold) so I didn't know what happened until I woke up.
My wife informs me that she was awake when it happened to her.
It depends on the severity, but for me they were so impacted that the dentist had to rip away at part of my jaw to get to them so he had to knock me out. After that I put them in a jar until 10-15 years later and let my daughter play with them Actually it's been some time since I thought about them. Who knows where they went. Anyhow I woke up with a bleeding mouth. It was all numb from the anaesthetic but it wore off and I went home. As I said, they gave me my teeth, all mangled up. It was sore. I won't lie about it. I was given pain killers to help and I slept most of the next two days. Then I went back to work. You may have a similar scenario, having them put you under for it. If so then it should be easier on you. But that's how it went with me.

I had them taken out when I was 18. All you feel in the IV needle going in your arm and then they put you to sleep with the gas. You wake up and you have swollen cheeks with cotton balls in your mouth but no pain what so ever and your gums are still bleeding a little. Honestly I never felt any pain and never had to use the vicodin just the swelling medication. Umm.. I think what sucks is that the bleeding doesn't stop as fast as you would hope and have to keep changing the cotton balls until it does. You have to drink liquid stuff the first 2 days at least and it is hard to open you mouth probably more than an inch. Honestly it was not as big a deal as I thought it was. I was at school doing lab later that same day eating pizza by the second day and playing golf by the third and fourth day. That probably not the smartest thing to do but I was fine then and I am fine now. Oh and your lips feel numb for a while, that the only thing that bothered me was that my tongue and lips were numb for a week.
I had the same thing- impacted teeth. They put me on antibiotics (tetracycline. Be careful with what you eat if they put you on this) and painkillers.
Frozen peas make for great ice packs. Your cheeks will be swollen. Soft foods are your friend. They'll give you all the ins and outs of everything and what you should eat. Just make sure the antibiotics don't have issues with dairy. I totally overlooked this when I was on mine and had just eaten dairy which conflicted. Omg, so sick. :(
But for the most part, I slept a lot the first half of the first week after surgery.
Its really not that bad. You go in, they give you some medicine and you pass out. Most people can't even remember the rest of the day. If your teeth aren't impacted (your dentist would have told you if they are) then you most likely won't have any complications like dry socket. You might be a little swollen. I didn't swell at all but I feel like I am the exception and not the rule in that regard. Plus, you get to eat a lot of ice cream after the surgery. The worst part of the surgery for me was my body's reaction to the vicodin,

Its nowhere near as terrifying as you think it'll be, I promise. There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of. You'll be knocked out with laughing gas and won't be awake or feel a thing. And they'll probably give you a prescription for Vicodine or a similar drug afterward if you have any pain. The only real downside is that you look like a chipmunk the first few days and you can't eat much in the way of solid food for a week because everything is swollen and tender. But. It'll be over before you know it!
I had my wisdom teeth removed.. They gave me local anesthesia.. so I was in and out of consciousness the whole time. I didn't feel pain at all! You are so knocked out that you will feel a strange picking sensation but no pain associated with it. After the surgery you will have to put gauze on the area for a while. Trust me it isn't a big deal at all. I made a big deal out of it too when it really wasn't. The blood on the gauze will probably freak you out but that will eventually clot too.
i got my wisdom teeth taken out. my face (cheeks) was swollen for more than a week. within the first few days you can only eat soup and stuff like that. it is not fun, but you will survive it. lol. don't worry too much...
They will knock you out with hydrocodone during the surgery. You will not feel a thing until you wake up. Then it sucks. =P
i haven't but the logical thing to do is to ask for MOAR DRUGS.
I had it done earlier this month. I slept during it so it was great. I took vidodin and that helped with pain and it made me tired! It didn't hurt too much. I got to drink a lot of smoothies. :-)
