He said he'd be a bad boyfriend, is this a legit reason?

Okay so me and him are pretty much a couple, we just don't have the "official" title. So last week I asked how come we don't have that official title yet? because for some reason to me that would just make us seem more real..no big deal.. he said he feels like he would be a bad boyfriend because at the moment he doesn't have a lot of time to spend with me (football for the next 7 weeks, playoffs for the next 2, and baseball on the weekends) basically his reason is he would want to give me more attention and spend more time with just me and him, he's just really busy with sports at the moment, I'm okay with waiting,hes my best friend, I'm happy where we are right now, it would just be nice to actually have that title, is his reason legit?

It could go either way. I'll start with, No it isn't legit. There are plenty of guys that are just as busy as him and are in relationships. Those guys have good time management and can easily play sports and still hang out with their girl. Yes, it is legit, if he can't find the time to hang out with and be the boyfriend that he wants to be. He may want to be a full comitted boyfriend, not the boyfriend that could flake out on you when he has an important game to play.
