people like to say "i never call in sick even if I'm sick"
there are NUMEROUS articles why you SHOULD call in sick when you are actaully sick...
the first and most important reason is you don't want to get the rest of your work sick...sure it shows dedication, but I used to think this way and actaully have been sent home because of me being sick...its not that they don't want me working, they just don't want to get sick...and it makes sense, it would cost my company which produces millions of $'s in business a year, a ton of money because of other departments or engineers around me getting sick..
so really, I'll call in sick if I'm sick, have a fever, just don't feel well, or sometimes I'll just call in sick because I need a day off...
they give us sick, vacation & personal time for a reason...use it when necessary

1. Anything that involves the stomach - I don't want to be stuck in traffic or anything when the need to hit a bathroom ASAP hits, so if I'm suffering from anything pertainign to upset stomach I'm home for the day.
2. Anything contagious other than the common cold - Self explanatory
3. Anything that makes me feel dizzy and light headed (and yes not having gotten enough sleep the night before falls into this)
I've never called in sick. I did dislocate my knee at work, however, had to go to the ER, and wasn't allowed back to work by doctor's orders for a week as I was on crutches/leg brace. They told me strongly that I should not go for another week after that, but I said I wanted to and did (big mistake).
It's just really nearly impossible to call in sick to work where I'm at. We have so few employees and every person counts. If someone really couldn't come in, we'd have to be understaffed, which could be dangerous, or we'd have to find another employee to fill in (and staff who can come in are really few).
Any time I'm contagious or just too weak to where I cannot perform my job safely/adequately. Everyone should be respectful when they're sick and still go into work. If you have a fever you have an infection and others can catch it. I personally don't like being sick so why would I want to share it with someone else? Especially if it's a virus!

I have to be unable to drive to call-in.
I am an executive and one of the reasons I got to this position is because I am disciplined. If I called in every time I felt poorly, especially as I have gotten older, I never would be holding the job I have.
I have bad headaches at times, stomach issues, back problems and an 11-year old who has given me about every cold she has had over the past 11 years. I also have asthma and have worked through bronchitis.
I have a brother who seems pretty unable to work through anything. He definitely doesn't stay home to goof off. He stays in bed or hangs around the house, but I just don't get it.I haven't faked a sickness for work in years, because I realized on how much money I missed out!
I will call in if I'm physically not well, I couldn't stand working while being nauseous or in any sort of constant discomfort. And food poisoning, which happened twice during my current job, no way am I setting a foot out of the house.I work for an organic farm directly handling the produce that will be shipped to customers so if I even feel a little whoozy that's enough of an excuse for my boss since customers often eat the produce without washing it first.
Personally, I won't fake being sick and I won't leave just because I'm sick. I'd wait until I physically can't make myself stay. Which has happened once.A good excuse to skip work would be something along the lines of Diarrhea. For example, "Hello [Boss], I can't come to work today because my Chihuahua has diarrhea and there is no one else at the home to take care of him. I'm going have to use my sick time so that I can stay home and take care of him."
Generally they say stay home if you have vomiting/diarrhea. Fever usually accompanies those. V/D suggests you have something contagious. A regular cold is contagious, but no reason to stay home. Just wash your hands A LOT. Keep hand sanitizer at your test and if you ever touch your face, cough, sneeze, use the hand sanitizer asap.
Migraines make me unable to see, so I can't drive anywhere. Other than that, vomiting or high fever. It's all relative to what needs to be done, of course. I've had days at work where I was throwing up every 15 minutes because I had to be there, and other days where I could make up what needed to be done on a different day so stayed home. Spreading a virus in your workplace doesn't make you a martyr, it just makes everyone else sick too.
i'm in high school and I have asthma, so even if I'm not sick, I just say I'm sick with my asthma and I get to stay home. if I don't feel like going to school I will stay home. like if I'm tired, or really ctually sick, or maybe I dodnt do my big essay. I'm the world's biggest malingerer. I took off for 3 days because it was the day before my birthday, my birthday, and the day after.
Contagious
Might not make it in time to the bathroom
Can't walk injuries
Can barely dial the phone
Care for sick family
Mental health day!I will call in dead, otherwise known as a migraine; or the flu (w/ fever & vomiting); or if I have any parts of my body hanging off bleeding & oozing with pus.
i never call in. Lol iv thrown up at work and just kept working
I only call in sick if I'm seriously sick starting with too dizzy to get out of bed or hunched over because of stomach pains. Colds and fevers I can deal with.
I don't know anytime I feel like I'm too sick to go to work. I wouldn't not go to work because of a lack of sleep and probably not for a cold either. I never get sick so I never call out.
I just have to be a bit tired and sleepy in my case
i call off whenever I'm sick of seeing my lame ass boss.
I haven't missed a day of work in my life (we're talking over 10 years here)... unless I'm unconscious, I'm going to work...
It shocks me how many people take advantage...Sick of work is reason enough for me. I'll just say I'm sick or that I need a personal day. They don't have to know my reasons for calling off.
I never call in. calling in is dumb. unless my mother, father, sister, or dog died which I don't have a dog.
If I'm vomiting or "pooping" uncontrollably...that's when I draw the line and call it in.
Anything else I usually take medicine and some sort of caffeine and keep it pushing. :)I'd only call if I really think I couldn't do my job because of how sick I am or if something urgent came up.
Me I've worked at a place for two years and have never called in sick... even when I am. I think I probably would though if I had diarrhea and had to go to the bathroom like every 5-10 minutes.. other than that id deffinately go to work.
