Before you go to bed is not the ideal time as it make keep you awake.
Middle of the day or morning depending on your schedule and when it makes you feel better. You may do well to have a light morning workout like some cardio and strength training after school.
Protein shake? If it has to do with running or other vibrations or crunches and the like where your midsection gets squeezed a lot, I would say after. For strength training, start sipping during the workout, up to a 3rd - finish the remaining 2/3rds later. That's what works for me.
Watch the calories from carbs in that protein shake - many of them are loaded with carbs. If you can, make your own shakes fresh with protein powder and vegetables or fruits in a blender. Infinite variety, fun, economical, natural, and you are in control.

100% depends on the type of workout you're talking about. Cardio and weight training are completely different, you're body is impacted very different, and the body needs to be prepared going into that type of workout. If you're just going to the gym to tell your friends you're going to the gym, it doesn't matter, but if you go into it with a certain goal, yes, it all matters.
20 minutes of aerobics in the morning before you eat is the best time because it is more effective than even an hour later in the day. but late afternoon/early evening before dinner is a good time also. its best to workout when you haven't eaten for a few hours and then to eat within a half hour after your workout because it gives your muscles a kick start and helps to burn calories from your fat as opposed to food (it seems as though it would be more difficult though because of your energy level, but it is most beneficial). protein is best to have after your workout (as well as food) because it helps to repair the muscles more quickly.
Learned this from Dr. Oz lol best time to workout is right when you wake up, before you eat anything. It burns the calories in your body, not from the food you just ate. Right after you're done exercising, eat breakfast (could be a protein shake if you wanted, but they often have a lot of calories. But it needs to be something substantial and complex to digest). Ideally, you should eat breakfast within an hour after waking up - it kick starts your metabolism and gets it going for the day. Skipping breakfast means your metabolism doesn't start as soon/quickly.

A lot of people find the best results when working out at night, because if you do high intensity cardio, it will help your metabolism pick up steam during your sleep. So during that 6-9 hours you're sleeping, you're both recovering you're burning fat because you trained so hard that the afterburn carries on through your sleep.
Just don't pig out after.I tend to work out while I'm sleeping as it saves me a great deal of time and energy.
If you can, in the morning. I usually work out in the evening, but only because I don't have time in the morning. I have to go later (7 or 8) because the gym is PACKED if I go at 5.
I do it in the morning right when the sunrises. I like it.
Depends what you mean by work out. Cardio? Morning before a meal. Weights? Anytime as long as it's a while away from bedtime.
After school. Your energy levels are highest in the afternoon. And always take the drink after. That's when your muscles need to repair. Drink it within 30 minutes after working out.
after work, before dinner
Morning, it gives you that energy boost.
