It does matter what you eat. Food is more than just calories. For instance, if you eat a big bowl of Mr. Noodles, it's not going to be over your calorie intake for the day unless you are eating a lot. But it does have a lot of salt and nothing really in the nutritional value for your body. It's basically just starch and salt. The salt is going to make you bloat up and make you feel crappy because you are not getting the nutrients you need.
Plus, it's not going to fill you up properly, so you will find yourself hungry in a couple hours. This will make you eat more.
It's way better to focus on eating healthy. You can have way more fruits and vegetables than you can unhealthy food. Typically an apple or Orange is only going to set you back 50 calories, plus lots of nutrients and the fibre is going to fill you up better and for longer.
Try to get stuff in your diet that will fill you up for longer periods of time, such as high fibre cereals and fruit.
If you are trying to lose weight, these will help. Also drink lots of water, because dehydration can sometimes make you feel hungry.
You'll lose weight with fewer calories but if you eat healthier than you'll lose more faster and get healthier
If you're just sticking to a certain set number of calories, then your metabolism will slow until that amount of calories is all your body needs daily, and you'll stop losing weight.
Work on raising your metabolism if you want to lose weight.
If you eat fewer calories than your basal metabolism, you will lose weight, but you could be losing more if you ate more fiber and fewer carbs.
