Has anyone ever passed out?

I came close to it this morning (I was still conscious because I could hear the people around me) but I was wondering how rare or common it is to actually pass out.

I'm also curious what causes it...for me I only come close to passing out in medical situations like after getting a flu shot. it was weird today because it didn't even involve me...my mom had eye surgery & I was walking with her from the back after the surgery up to the lobby/waiting area. it was quite embarrassing as the nurses went all crazy over me & made me sit in a wheelchair & have a fan blowing on me & everything...and it was my mom who had the surgery! not me haha

Yes, but only once... I was drinking and club hopping on Martha's Vineyard and came home totally plastard. I remember the friend of a friend was doing Anarnold Schwarzenegger impression saying Give it to me! Give it to me NOW! over and over again, refereeing to some weed or something. =P My brother was in a drunken stupper talking all kinds of sh*t and being loud as hell. Another freind was passed the f*** out cold on the couch and my brother put a lit cigar in his mouth and took pictures of him hahaha. Anyway, this was at like 2:30AM and I hadn't had any sleep in like 2 days. I walked out on the front porch just to get a little piece and quit and laied down on the porch. Another friend came out the door real fast and smacked me on the top of the head with the door full force. And then it all went black.

He said I stood up and then did a face plant into the drive way then got up again and walked off. I don't remember any of it. I just remember waking up in someone's house several hours later and wondering where the hell I was and what I was doing there. I got the hell out of there and once outside I heard the crazy junk yard dog that was in front of the place I was staying at barking faintly in the distance. I stumbled home walking towards the dog bark and eventually made my way back. I didn't know the area or where the hell I was. =P The in between time is still a blank. I have no clue what happened after getting hit with the door.

I passed out a couple years ago at a doctor's office, when they were taking blood. I was pretty sick, hadn't really eaten more than a bowl of cereal over the previous three days. They wanted a blood test, so I sit down, they wrap the thing around my arm, I grimace and look away as the needle/blood collector comes closer...

And next thing I know, my vision is coming back slowly--I could only see a little in the center of my gaze, surrounded by fuzzy black--I smell something chemical and powerful, and a nurse is gently tapping me and repeating my name.

I fainted once because I gave blood that day, then later that night I went to dinner with friends and had a few beers. They tell you not to drink, but I didn't listen so it was totally my fault. It sucked really bad though, I kinda went blind for a minute, then fell down. I wasn't out long, just a few seconds, but I felt like crap for a few hours after that.
