My friend eats dirt. Should I tell her fiance?

I caught my friend eating dirt. She keeps a bag of sand in her closet. She says sometimes she gets really bad cravings for dirt, and so she will eat it. She is getting married in September. I am wondering if I should tell future husband. She said he already knows, but I don't believe it. Why would he stick around and want to kiss someone who eats dirt? I'm calling her mother tonight, because it's jsut too weird.She needs help. I'm just wondering if I should reveal it to her fiance as well. I don't want to ruin their marriage, but he has the right to know that she is a weirdo.

Is it negatively affecting her health? People actually eat dirt in other parts of the world. I had a friend who ate clay when she was pregnant.

I have to wonder, as her friend, why you are so determined to "save" her fiance from her rather than help her figure out why she's craving dirt (more than likely her body needs nutrients that she's not getting) and helping her with that.

I'm going to say this - you want to ruin her marriage because there are other routes you can take to deal with her dirt addiction - and you're choosing the one that would hurt her more than help her.

Why don't you deal with your own problems before trying to deal with hers?

because if I were dating a guy and I found out he ate dirt, I'd break up with him. And if someone knew he was eating dirt but didn't tell me, I wouldn't be impressed. Him and her parents should be the first to know. She says they do because she has gone to the doctor about it and her cravings aren't as bad. She said she told him months after they started dating, and that she brushes her teeth and uses mouthwash every time.

I don't believe her that she told them. Why hide the dirt in her closet then? Why not keep it in the kitchen?

Stop projecting your feelings. Who cares how you would feel or what you would do? This situation has nothing to do with you. The only reason why I would agree with you interfering is so she can clearly see what type of friend you really are ... I think that she should be the one in control of information about herself unless it's hurting others. Her unusual craving isn't hurting anybody.

And yeah, I'd friggen want to know if my fiance was eating dirt! If my friend knew and I didn't I'd be pissed for the fact that they didn't tell me plus I'd be pissed at my fiance for keeping something like that from me!

I don't think it's a good idea to meddle with someone else's relationship. Frankly, it's not your decision whether or not she tells anyone, continues, or stops. It's her's. You shouldn't go behind her back and talk to her mother either. I believe that you should talk to HER about it. Tell her how you feel, sincerely and warmly, and encourage her to take the correct course of action.

No, I'm being serious. I wish I were trolling. If I wanted to troll I'd be posting about fat people,because that's a topic that riles people up. This is something I witnessed this morning, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. I don't really see how this is supposed to make people mad? Unless of course there are more dirt eaters on here.

Well a true troll is to say something ficticious and then try to get people to "correct" you and deliberately refuse to be "corrected" which is how they get riled up. A most popular one is holocaust denial because of the astounding amount of evidence it happened and people start to present it and... it all goes bad from there.

Um, I'm pretty sure that is an actual disorder. Maybe instead of being judgmental encourage her to seek medical help. If she says her fiance knows then he probably does, and either way it is none of your business to interfere in their relationship. And what is the point of calling her mother? Clearly your friend is an adult, though I doubt you are because you sound like a 12 yo, and can take care of herself.

She says she does, and it has helped a bit but she still gets cravings for it. And no I'm 25 and I've known her since High School. I'm just concerned that's all. It's better if her fiance finds out now instead of after they're married, and he divorces her.

For starters, you're calling her a "weirdo" for having a medical condition. And you know that vow "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health" if he's her fiance he's already at the point where he loves her for who she is. Just because he didn't leave her when he found out, doesn't mean that is a sign he is unaware. Why don't you believe your friend when she tells you he knows already?

because there aren't too many people who would stick with someone who eats DIRT. Like if you were dating a guy. and he confessed to you that he eats dirt, would you keep dating him? Would you want to marry him? Everyone else I've told is shocked and disgusted. And these are people who know her, including her sister. Her mom did know, but not her sister.

Mind your own business. I pretty darn sure he knows a lot more about her than you do, especially at the point where he's already popped her the question and will to marry her. You need to contact her and talk to her, not anyone else about it. Yes it's weird, but honestly it doesn't sound life threatening so you need to just keep out of it and quit trying to be the savior.
