Someone tell me if this program is truly legit.
Anyone tried it yet? Or know anyone that did?
Im getting DESPERATE!
I don't use it mainly because I can't do everything it wants you to do in it, for instance I can use a pull up bar in my apartment because my door don't have door frames (weird). P90x requires you to have certain pieces of equipment to work with it, you own set of weights, resistance bands, and a pull up bar. I use Shaun T's Insanity which has a much more intense cardio that will definitely help you lose weight if you stick to it. It doesn't use ANY equipment, just uses your body weight for resistance to build muscle and it works. I use this with a combination of a weight training workout I do with my own set of weights I have. Don't mind my routine though, if you do Insanity alone and stick to it and try your hardest to keep up with the pace in the videos there is no way you can not lose that weight. Intense cardio will always be the best way to lose weight. Weight training is a good idea to add on to that though as it burns fat and calories over night as well as your body works to repair the muscles that you've stressed.
The kicker though? You need to have a good diet for your body to work efficiently and do what you want. It may take significantly longer to burn weight with a bad diet than a full complete diet. By this I don't mean starving yourself, I mean eating healthy proportions with COMPLETE nutrition. This means that every day you should be consuming the RIGHT amount of meats, vegetables, fruits, fats, and carbs. A full nutrition will allow your body to function properly and losing excess weight will be easy because your body won't be trying to store things because of your lack of nutrition. Nutrition is a very important subject to study and essential to know when having a workout routine you want to work.
There is no such thing as a super fast way to get in shape and all these 30-90 day challenges/exercise plans is just a way to sell them more. You basically have two problems. You're obviously not motivated enough, because you're giving up WAY too fast. I think you should go and try different sports and exercises to find something you truly enjoy and something you can do the rest of your life.
Getting into shape isn't about a small diet, it's about lifestyle change. Which brings me to your second problem which is your diet. Diet makes up 70-80% of your fat loss success. I'm not talking about doing a crash diet or eating only lettuce, because they're both bad ideas. I'm talking about small changes a little bit at a time. Instead of eating french fries, eat potatoes, rice or pasta. Instead of candy, eat berries and fruits. Instead of drinking soda, drink water or milk etc etc
Small changes in lifestyle can make a huge difference and you can't expect to lose 10, 20, 30 pounds at a time. Make smaller goals and that way stay motivated until you get where you want to be whether it's 3, 6 or 12 months from now. If you do the lifestyle changes well the weight is going to stay away.
I do eat healthy, I just add a lot of sweets to my diet. And I don't burn as MUCH calories as I should.
Well sugar is the worst possible thing you can eat when trying to lose fat as you probably already know. You should try and cut back on them or even better replace them with something. Also you don't necessarily have to burn more, you can eat less. Like I said even a little amount can make a difference. Here's basically a video about everything I said in a nutshell link
thanks :)
@update: Congrats! :)
It's a good program if you're pretty new to this whole thing. The nutrition plan they give you is nothing you'll haven't heard somewhere else before and a lot of the program were what I thought to be very standrt exercises that you can do yourself in the gym, you just need to structure your own workouts.
Overall I'd say it's a good plan, but don't expect miracles. You get out what you put in, you'll probably shape up a little but the results you see in the ads are extreme cases or if you'll actually read a little closer to what they say, those people did P90x or other beachbody several times before they saw that kind of change. I personally think it's not worth the money and there is free rescources online, I know tons of links if you want to
calculate your calorie intake you can search for it online, then eat stuff that stays below it everyday. while exercising I think the program works but youo coud stay with a simple routine. doing cardio and some light weight exercises

P90X is a solid program that works. However it's highly inefficient. The main reason for this is because they had to make a LOT of compromises when they structured the program 100% about giving you a choice between bands OR dumbbells. If they would have just committed to doing one or the other they could have put a program together that got you the same results in a lot less time. P90X has you spending about an hour and a half a day, 6 days a week, working out.
Like I said it's good but there's way better stuff out there if you have access to a gym membership OR are willing to look at programs structured 100% around dumbbells. The reason P90X is so widely known is because it is so heavily marketed as well, remember that. Personally I'm not a fan because I figured that for a little more than the cost of the DVDs you can buy equipment that will get you a LOT better results and is something you can build a lifestyle around--not 3 months.
All it takes is dedication to something its not that P90x works or it doesn't it is up to the user. Insanity I found to be a better workout though. But I would rather get a personal trainer and take the protein powders to see results I want. Protein powders can help with fat burn not just muscle building and bulking up
Actually protein supplements are a complete waste of money if you eat meat daily. The amount of protein your body needs to build muscle is supplied in abundance already from the average persons daily intake of meat. Protein supplements just go to waste and some just help build water weight
actually they are not a complete waste if you actually work out that's how you get bigger fast. They prodive much more than just raw protein they provide the Amino acid as well. I think you should do some research before you tell me I am wrong. last time I checked protein did not add water weight, get your facts right
Most protein should be consumed though actual food, the powder is a supplement not a replacement for anything. Some people have a pre work out, a during work out, and a post work out powder. If all you do is lift I could see that actually being good but normal people the post work out is the one you want to take, that and one before you go to bed
Proteins are made of Amino Acids, the protein you obtain from your meat is broken down into the essential amino acids are then redirected through your body. I'm a biology major senior, don't try to tell me I don't know my information about how the body works. link
Read number 3 in the link, certain supplements can cause water retention. Also it states that athletes receive more than sufficient protein from dietary protein.
My brother used to be a body builder who used supplements and now suffers from gout. Stop listening to uneducated pop culture body builders and start learning from actual scholastic articles who write the books on this stuff. Nutrition is the key to muscle building, excess weight loss, and overall health. Supplements are just a waste of money unless benefiting someone with a medical condition causing a deficiency. Nutrition > Supplements. So many weight lifters don't know what they're doing.
whatever you say man I don't care to argue
P90X is truly legit. And very difficult.
The biggest deficit you'd have to overcome is the deficit of discipline.
Discipline to keep on schedule, to not slack off, to not overeat.
The formula for weight loss or weight gain is calories lost vs calories ingested. You can undermine any fierce workout by eating an icecream or a dessert.
I went from 155 to 135 doing p90x following the program and diet properly. The program is quite good, I've heard good things about insanity as well and that may be better suited for you as it is more cardio focused whereas p90x has some more strength training.
If you follow the exercises and the diet then you will 100% lose weight
Sign up with a recognized scientifically researched program like that offered by Weight Watchers.
Never pay any attention to these advertised miracle diets. You can't safely lose much more than 5-7 lbs a month; anything they say otherwise is too good to be true.
These programs don't leave you on your own. They give you ongoing guidance, and, without trying to make a pun, feedback on your progress!
P90X is not a diet. It's a workout program that has you following a primarily strength training based workout routine 6 days a week, changing up your workout regimen monthly. You follow the program for 90 days and it promises a full body transformation. It delivers everything it claims, but the problem is it's not sustainable. You can't keep working out 90 minutes a day for 6 days a week indefinitely.
I know. workout programs will add muscle, but without a controlled diet, you will probably GAIN weight, not lose it! That's why these things are false advertising!
It comes with a nutrition plan that you are supposed to follow while on it. It is based on how professional fitness competitors eat, alternating your calorie intake and macronutrient ratio based on the workout schedule you follow that month. Personally I'm not a fan because I would prefer something sustainable. But weight watchers is more of something for chronic junk eaters. The system its based on is meant to get you to control your cravings by increasing food and vegetable intake.
However, not getting enough fruits & veggies is not everyone's problem. WW doesn't work for everyone. That's why they are constantly revising their points system. It's flawed.
It's not scientific like thr programs developed by Weight Watchers and other organizations, and also the workout is pretty strenuous for people just beginning to exercise, so many people won't stick with it.
It's pretty good. It's an hour a day for 3 months. Each day is an hour long workout. A friend of mine did a workout and said it hurt to laugh the next day. 3 months of working out every day? If you take it seriously and actually complete it, I'm sure you'll see results.
Have you questioned whether your workout routine is the problem as well? What's your workout like? If I had to guess, its mostly cardio with little to no strength training. Which can be as much a problem as a faulty diet.
I will never try nor reccomend P90X to anyone. There are waaayyy easier ways to get in shape.
No I do weight training as well, but nothing helps me. But you're right about my faulty diet. What ways is that?
How long have you been training? And what weight training are you doing?
Two months, I do it and when I don't see results I quit. Like I'm doing now.
2 months is not enough time to see a transformation in my opinion. If you want to get fit you'll have to dedicate at least one year.
All these programs promising you 90 day transformations aren't the way to go. Because even if you complete the 90 days and transform your body, that insane level of intensity will become your norm. And anything less intense than that will make you put on weight.
I know... I guess I need a trainer, I'm just not dedicated enough. So I won't get the p90x
I think you need to find the right motivation. Working out to look good is a good place to start, but it has to be deeper than that to keep you going for months and months and even years on end.
Also, I wouldn't get a trainer lol. You are your own best trainer.
Oh I've had trainers before, they always told me to stop eating sweets..but I never listened.
Thats my problem, I've got no motivation.
Your problems are more likely around eating. If you'd prefer p90x, do it, but don't expect changing your workout to matter if your nutrition isn't right and weight loss is your goal.
I incorporate the Ab Ripper X part of the regimen into my routine, damn it's good. I haven't tried the others though.
Ya if you very committed not the best, but if you get there it's amazing. Good job on the weight loss
It is I lost 40 lbs because of it and got super fit!
I have tried it but I actually prefer Insanity by Shuan T over P90x. Or HipHop Abs.
I personally have not tried it but it works, my English teacher had it. And it will take a lot of work.
Ive tried it and it really got me into shape, its is a bit difficult tho
it looks difficult...
it works I've tried it! It made me toned and gave me more endurance
lol so you're not THAT desperate
nope
isn't a P90 a type of automatic weapon?
I tried it and I thought it was a great workout.
