Height 5'8, my hair is down to my armpits
Anyways that is my normal weight and everything, but I am trying to loose weight, I weight 118 By the way. Anyways what do you think?
Your ankle size and calf size and whatever else is irrelevant. You need to research what type of modeling you COULD do...its important to be realistic. You are too SHORT to do high end runway work.HOWEVER...if they like you enough,an agency will fudge your height on you comp card just to make it seem like you are taller. Some clients may not like that though, but agencies do it anyway and it works for SOME girls.Your waist, hips, and bust is what's most important. If you cannot fit into the clothes which is usually for a size 2 or 4,you will NOT book work for anything fashion oriented...UNLESS you become a fit model.Where you stand around all day and clothes are fit to your body type for the masses. Also,an individuals "look" has an awful lot to do with whether or not you will be booked. If they don't like your face, despite your measurements...you will not get BOOKED.
Another type of modeling which pays a heck of a lot more money than editorial work is...Commercial work. Commercial work pays and could potentially afford you a car, home, getting out of debt etc. This type of work allows a lot more freedom with how you look, your weight etc. You could even Segway from that into an acting career of some sort.
From what you have written above,it is quite obvious that you already have a warped idea of the modeling industry and what is expected of you.You are currently at 118 lbs and you are talking about losing weight. You are already underweight and you are doing a negative thing...already.As I mentioned, your measurements are what's most important.NOT the number on the scale.
I seriously advise you to do your research concerning agencies, and whether or not you even have a look that is marketable because right now...youre a little confused. If your look is not what clients think will sell their product, you will not book jobs.
All of my advice is coming from my own experience because I AM a model and I DO paid work.(of course people on this site will talk nonsense like wanting to see a photo, but who cares...I know my own truth.)Anyway,at the start of my career I tried pursuing editorial work since I'm 5'9" and naturally slim.I lost about 20 lbs with my rib cage showing and that STILL wasn't enough for them. They wanted me thinner, thinner and thinner.I did not book a lot of work because it was impossible to stay that thin.Anyway,i decided to change over into doing commercial work and now I am booking work left and right and I am able to be healthy instead of starving myself.
Lastly, dont ask these types of questions on this website because no one here is an agent. And no one here for the most part has real experience in the industry and can tell you what to expect. As you can see from all of the responses, you haven't received any REAL helpful answers besides what I am telling you right now.
Take some pics and send them to agencies and get feedback from THEM.Dont waste time asking here and getting discouraged. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Good luck to you.
By the way,one reputable website is MODELS.com. This site is one of the only legit sites where agencies actually go on to scout models.I have been scouted there before...but still be careful.ONly agencies can tell you whether or not your look works based on their clients needs.
Last thing,i know of high end models who are 5'8.But they don't get a lot of work because there are plenty of girls who are 5'10" which Is largely the preferred height. So anyone saying that 5'8" Is common as a high end model is lying.Over the years, they want the girls to be taller and thinner.Lastly, you are NOT too old to do this like someone said.I am 29,and I am booking more work than ever at 29.So please for your own sake, dont listen to people here.
thank you.
Youre welcome.:)
People are confused about the height. Taller actually isn't better for high end modeling. Most models are 5'8/5'9
You're too old for haute couture modeling. Most are discovered at around 14 and continue building up their portfolios until Ford, Wilhelmina or IMG signs them. And their careers are typically over by 21/22, unless they're a Naomi or Kate Moss
Probably too short, and too old, to be a fashion model (they start MUCH younger, typically).
But that doesn't mean you couldn't be a catalog model or a glamour model. The requirements for that are much less narrow than for fashion, which requires an extremely specific set of attributes.
If you really want to know, you need to meet with a couple of agencies in your nearest major city and get an evaluation (you'd probably need to follow them and wait for open auditions). You could also try one of the online model websites and see if you get calls for jobs. At first, you probably won't get paid, but you would get copies of the pictures for your portfolio, which, if good, will help you eventually get paying jobs.
Know that most of the paying jobs (and all of the best-paying jobs) for models are in New York and Los Angeles, but there are going to be smaller numbers of low-paying local jobs in any big city.
I'm 18
Which means you aren't 13 or 14, which is the age that most fashion models start working.
Anyway, Google "modeling" and "modeling agencies" and visit the top 30 or 40 hits. Most sites and agencies have a FAQ or something that will explain the typical requirements, so you won't be relying on my opinion.
I worked in video production for a number of years, but there was a lot of crossover with models and actresses, so I know a few things about the industry. Still, I'm not an expert.
maybe but its a rough business tht isn't a good lifetime career they'll usually get dropped by 25 or so... and you might be a bit too short for it plus unless you look attractive they won't pick you and even if you looked perfect they still may not want you just because you don't have connections...
u could try being a catalog model or go into p*rn/nude modeling those are much easier to get into

height - 5'8 is great, I love girls this high, I think you should give it a try, anyway what are you loosing? if you won't try the answer no you already have, if you would go to the agency - at least you would have a chance)) Do you have photos?
Might be too short, I know they're quite picky on liking tall girls... My ex does modelling but they won't let her near catwalk modelling due to her being a shortass.
You're the model type based on those figures, although a lot more is necessary.
.A certain way of walking, and of course usually the sculpted, angular face, since you need a dramatic appearance, not just a tall, slim build.
It's hard to tell on just a description alone.
Being a model is so much more than your "look" it also has to do with your personality and how
well you can photograph.
No. Your waist, hips, and thigh measurements are too large.an you're too old. And you don't have a picture so how could we know.
I'm sorry there is no picture, so I can't tell you. :)
I wasn't sure you were qualified until you mentioned the hair down to your armpits! hubba hubba
5.8 weight 118, and trying to lose weight. ... can I get a HELL NO
I just got a new computer with Windows 7, set up everything, got Chrome, and no pics are loading. Anyone know what's going on?
I think you look fine and one pretty girl witha beautiful personality:)
Any idiot girl can be a model. Set your sights higher. Most girls become a model just because they're a girl and don't wanna do any real work.
Are you really 5'8 or rounding up?
I'm exactly 5'8
Have fun turning into a skeleton
There are plus-sized models.
yeah, there are plus size models, but that girl said she's 5'8 and weighs 118 and trying to lose weight. That's insane. There's a difference of looking good at a healthy weight and looking gross/ like a skeleton at a lighter weight.
Pics or it didn't happen
any pics? that would help...
I hate how you have to be over 5'9 to model :/
Nope.
You have no picture, so f*** no

Need a picture!
