That's perfectly OK. Live your life for you. You would honestly be setting a great example for people by showing them your true self without the cosmetics
I never cared about my looks. I care about my health so I keep fit, but I don't care about attracting people with my looks. Either they'll be attracted to the real me (no make up, undone hair, and my unbridled personality) or they won't.

What came to my mind was this...
I had somewhat thinning hair for a while... mind you it was still quite think and hard to say it was thinning. However, when I turned 18, I knew I would one day probably loose it all. Then, I did not care if I did loose it. To me it felt very silly to think about and I figured that if a women makes an issue of it then she must be rather shallow.
however, if you are trying to attract guys then yes it would be semi important because I'm sure you would want a semi attractive guy right?

if you actually didn't care about your looks or looking good to men, I doubt you'd be on a website publicly griping about how much you don't care about looking good to men...
I like studying behaviour of people, perhaps I misunderstood this site, it advertised as asking questions to get feedback from the opposite gender. Not specifically regarding dating. I wasn't griping nor even saying I didn't want to look good for men. I just don't want to work on those things period. And I happen to not want to date. If I did I'd probably try harder. What's your issue here? You seem antagonistic
While it's important as how others view you, ultimately, it's more important on how you see yourself. Don't just give up just because you feel a certain way-it's not worth it. Do it for you. Not them.

You shouldn't care what the opposite sex thinks of your appearance. What matters if what you think of yourself
Not wanting to care about it, can lead to loss of appetite, not finding fun in things you used to find fun etc...and if you don't take care of yourself, it could lead to you just not caring about anything anymore. Thus, suicidal tendencies

I understand the hair, makeup and shaving part !
But caring about clothes is the bare minimum for me. Dressing "bad" requires more effort right ?
I mean, A pear of black jeans, white shirt, a black blazer and a red scarf is really not complicated yet cute ..

To me it was quite trivial and a moot point.
DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT IS IMPORTANT
THis is your life, you do what you want PERIOD.
however, if you are trying to attract guys then yes it would be semi important because I'm sure you would want a semi attractive guy right?

me thinks you doth protest too much.

Guys don't want a fatty... There's your motivation.
Good gracious how many times must I state this is only in regards to makeup and hair and things like that?!
I honestly don't give a fuck anymore I mean I wear flip flops to the store in the winter because they are comfortable I really just don't care
My dad does that
You're a cute girl, would hate to see that go to waste.
Why would I go to waste because I didn't pamper myself? Am I not a credible human being because of who I am?
Yeah, I'm the same way. I only exercise because it feels good, not for appearance..
I don't do makeup, shave, or dress stylishly.
No its not bad, its badass
Hey, as long as you don't mind being single, or having to drastically lower your standards, go ahead!
I don't want a relationship.
Then go right ahead, I have no doubt most guys will pick up on that, lol.
It will probably be a good thing I'm leaving for a humanitarian effort for 18 months anyways
The badness of it can only be gauged depending upon the disruption your disposition makes over the desires and hopes that you hold.
I'm not sure what "bad" means exactly.
Does it mean you're less than anyone else? No.
Will it diminish your dating success? Absolutely.
Just do whatever 'you' want to do. It's your life to live.

And if you want to be plain be my guest but everybody likes a nicely dressed lady
it's bad because a womans self worth and value to society is based on her looks.
This.
Int that sort of pathetic of society?
that's fine.
there are other women men will go after lol
I think it's fine to not go above and beyond but I think most people should want to look presentable
Id say that's totally fine
Only if you have suicidal tendencies
Why does not caring about appearance correlate with depression?
Not wanting to care about it, can lead to loss of appetite, not finding fun in things you used to find fun etc...and if you don't take care of yourself, it could lead to you just not caring about anything anymore. Thus, suicidal tendencies
If I don't find doing my hair and makeup fun then how could that happen? I still paint and meditate and hike which are things I love?
