Cant be bipolar can it?

My sister has had a lot of emotional problems all her life. she was diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder as a child. we both think this diagnosis was wrong. at 15 she was told she had major depression and put on wellbutril and eventually trazodone as well. she was on them for about 3 years and was taking the highest dosage possible so they put her on celexa which sucked for her. they were going to put her on abilify but she stopped taking her medicine. she's a naturally sweet person but off meds she can be like the incredible hulk screaming and breaking things. shs broken dishes remotes even a csr windshield in anger- not always warranted just trivial things. other times she's just happy dancing and singing constantly laughing making jokes. she sometimes doesn't want tp gp to bed and would rather dance and sing or something. people with bipolar can go 4 hours of sleep and be fine. that doesn't fit her. then of course there's times when she has to drag herself out of bed to work and just moves so slow and cries so easily. her sophomore year of college she got so depressed she stopped getting out of bed for class and writing crap papers just to have something to turn in. she wasn't medicated at the time. she's 22 now and her current psychiatrist has stated she shows symptoms of bipolar (our mom is bipolar and our sister was too). Her good moods don't last weeks or months either- hours days a week yea. has anyone ever experienced this before. it makes living with her difficult and she's lost a lot of friends because of her mood swings.
