ever know someone who like didn't drink but then was like borderline alcoholic later on in life?

maybe this is more common among young people than older as most people first try drinking around high school or college age. I've noticed some people over the years who like didn't even drink when they were in high school but once they turned 19 were like at bar every weekend and borderline alcoholics when they drank.

its like some younger people even the more educated ones don't really understand alcohol or how it affects a persons body and health or they just really get into drinking at that age and don't care about much else.

when my brother was younger, he hated to drink. he would never even have a beer or anything..but as soon as he went off to university...different story. he's no alcoholic..but he'll drink a lot with his friends now.
I on the other hand, now that i'm in university, im 19..so i'm legal ( Canada ) i don't/barely drink anymore. it doesn't appeal to me. so i guess i'm opposite :P

most university students tend to drink a lot even if they didn't drink back home , of course is some who don't drink when at school but I'd say most at least drink socially

there is no such thing as a borderline alcoholic. you either are a alcoholic or your not.

Nope not me. Like usual, I lost track with everyone I knew in high school.

someone who never drank until after 21 years of age..

the drinking age here is 19 , but have seen some people who never went out to bars suddenly really into drinking when there suddenly allowed in the bar and some can't really handle it well and can develop drinking issues
