I’ve been guilty of that! I came up with a good solution for myself. I put them in an envelope, then I put them in my underwear drawer.😝 that way I’ll get reminded daily and when I know I’ll be going near one of the places I have a gift card for, I’ll take it. I often wonder how much money never gets spent from gift cards?
I think we are pretty good about using them, but I do know for a fact there is a gift card from before we had children still in one of my desk drawers. I think it was a combination, gift card for dinner and a movie that we received when my wife was pregnant with our first child. That means it's at least 11 years old.
I’ll always use gift cards for stores. I’ll actually try to use them within a week or two. When I get them for restaurants, I must confess, they usually go unused. My favorites are for gas stations. It’s one stop shopping! Gas, beer, cigarettes and a candy bar!

I do my best too. Sometimes if there’s a few dollars or cents left it can be hard to spend. If they sell coke or something it can be easy to spend a few dollars.
I lost a 200 dollar card once and didn’t find it until it was too late.

Both. It can be a surprise finding unused cards in unusual places: buried in wallet, stuck in car seat gaps, random drawers

I politely asked friends and family for no gift cards this year. they all respected that.
I put a note on everyone I get so I don’t regift them to the same person. lol
I tend to always give out the gift cards
