Do gifts make you happy?

My family offered to spend over $150 buying me food for a family visit and I feel almost no happiness from it

When I spent $38 buying fair trade coffee to support poor people in a third world country I was very happy for 7 days.

People should not be buying me gifts since it makes almost no difference in my mood.

"what is a gift credit?" you ask
well, it's when someone wants to buy you a gift, but you are like don't worry about it I will save my gift credit for when I really want something productive and useful.

I think it's great because it saves them money as they won't be wasting it on maybe surprise-type gifts and it also stops them from wasting their time.

Yes. I like more sentimental gifts like cards with funny greetings or homemade things.

It's not your love language. Sounds like acts of servicr or quality time are.

I prefer quality time to gifts any day. Gifts are cool I guess, but I prefer doing things with loved ones.

Of course gifts bring a smile on my face. Even if I didn't actually like the gift, I appreciate the thoughtfulness.
