A Month by Month Breakdown

Hello GAGers, and welcome to the most random MyTake you will come across all week long!

This random idea randomly came into my random mind when I was thinking about how excited I am to watch Super Bowl LI, because it's my favorite part of every February. So, this had me thinking to myself: What is my favorite part of each month? Then, I thought about how much I hate the second week of January, since the holidays are entirely over, and it's time for me to go back to school ,to prove to my students that I'm not a fool. This also had my brain rattling: What is my worst part of each month?

For each month, I'm going to give my favorite part of each month, and my worst part of each month. To define what I mean when discussing a "part" of each month, it can mean a holiday, a particular day in general, a range of days, or maybe a particular event. For fun purposes, I will do my favorite, and worst part of the month in my life from five, and ten years(Respectively).

Fellow GAGers: I encourage you to do the same on the comments section. When you reflect on each month, you might have an epiphany of how much your life truly sucks.

January

My favorite part of the month: While I respect Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and it allows me to have an extra day off of work, I'm going to have to say New Year's Day, January 1st, is my favorite part of this month. Not only am I still on Winter Break(For at least two more days), but it's a great way to close out the holiday season, and it's a great lazy, and junk food smashing day.

My worst part of the month: For this year, January 20th was the worst part, since Donald Trump officially became president. However, in a typical year, Anywhere between January 4th-10th. This is generally the week Winter Break for schools is over, and it's time to go back to teaching. I call it the "Holiday Hangover" week.

Five Years Ago: I was a college student, and my favorite time of the month was the same(New Year's Day), and worst time of the month was the third week of January(Usually between January 12th-18th), since it's when my college(Miami University-Ohio), at the time, began the Spring Semester.

Ten Years Ago: I was a sophomore in high school, and my favorite time of the month was the Super Bowl, because the end of January was when the Super Bowl used to occur every year, before the NFL changed it in 2010. My worst time of the month was the same as my current situation, for the same reason.

February

My favorite part of the month: As noted above, Super Bowl Sunday is my favorite part of February. I will be rooting for the Falcons to injure Tom Brady in the Super Bowl this weekend!

My worst part of the month: Valentine's Day. I'm the ultimate scrooge of this ridiculous holiday, and it's not because I'm single. Actually, I would hate it worse if I wasn't single. It's a superficial holiday, and it doesn't show true love at all.

Five Years Ago: My favorite, and worst time of the month was the same as it is now for the same reasons.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was President's Day(Which is the third Monday of every month), since it gave me an extra day off from school. My worst part of the month was the same as it is now for the same reasons.

March

My favorite part of the month: If Easter Sunday falls in March, Easter weekend is my favorite part of the month. If it doesn't, I guess it has to be St. Patrick's Day(March 17th), even though all I'm sober, and all I will do is hang out with a drunk friend I might have. This is probably the most dull month of the year.

My worst part of the month: The first two weeks of the month(March 1st-14th) are my worst part of the month, since here in Ohio, it's a vicious battle between Winter, and Spring. I can walk outside in single-digit temperatures, or 70 degrees and sunny-A snowstorm, or a thunderstorm. It's like opening up a box of chocolates.

Five Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the first week of the month, since that's when my Miami University's Spring Break used to fall every year, and this gave me a sigh of relief from the stress of school. My worst part of the month was the first week back from Spring Break(Usually between March 8th-14th), since it began the long stretch until the end of Spring Semester.

Ten Years Ago: If Spring Break week fell in the month of March, this was my favorite part of the month. If not, my favorite part was St. Patrick's Day(Or days surrounding it), since my school celebrated it, and we always had fun on that day. My worst part of the month was ironically the first week of March, since all sophomores in Ohio(At the time) were required to take the Ohio Graduation Tests, and we had to pass them to graduate from high school.

April

My favorite part of the month: If Easter Sunday falls in this month, it's Easter weekend. If not, it's the opening day of Major League Baseball, which always falls during the first week of April.

My worst part of the month: April 20th. I have nothing against marijuana, or their users, but I hate hearing about "4/20" every year, and the day makes me feel like a Jr. high student again.

Five Years Ago: Easter weekend fell in April in 2012, so this was my favorite time of the month. My worst time of the month was still "4/20" for the same reasons.

Ten Years Ago: Easter weekend fell on the same day(April 8th) was it did five years ago-Imagine that. My worst part of the month was still "4/20", for the same reasons(And it was much worse in high school).

May

My favorite part of the month: While I love surprising my mom on Mother's Day, Memorial Day is my favorite part of May(Which is always the final Monday of May). Not only is it usually the first day swimming pools open, it's also during my summer break here in Ohio, and it's the perfect cookout day, and a sacred day as well.

My worst part of the month: The week of final exams for my high school students(Which is usually between May 16th-22, or so). Why? Because it's painstakingly boring sitting for several hours each day, and watching students take an exam.

Five years ago: At the time, Miami University, the second week of May was my favorite part of the month, since it was the first month of my Summer Break as a college student! My worst part of the month was the first week of May, since this was my final exam week, and any college student will tell you how stressful final exam week is.

Ten Years Ago: At the time, Summer Break didn't fall until June, so Memorial Day was my favorite part of the month, since it was an extra day off of school. My worst part of the month was the weekend of Prom(At the time, usually between May 8th-14th), since it reminded me of how much of a loner I was in high school.

June

My favorite part of the month: Father's Day, which is always the third Sunday of June. I love surprising my dad on that day, and it's always a great weekend for me.

My worst part of the month: This is the least dull month of the year in my opinion, as there aren't any dull, or disappointing moments. I guess June 30th is the worst part of the month, since it's a reminder that the first full month of Summer Break is over.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the second week of the month, since it was usually the first full week of Summer Break. My worst part of the month is the same as above for the same reason.

July

My favorite part of the month: Independence Day, which is the fourth of July here in the United States of America. I always go to a fireworks show on this day, and it's always a party. I love this day!

My worst part of the month: Here in Ohio, July is usually the hottest month of the year, and I hate hot weather. So I'm soaked in a swimming pool the entire month. Aside from the first four days of the month: I can easily say July 5th-31st is my worst part of the month.

Five Years Ago: My favorite, and worst times of the month were the same for the same reasons.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite time of the month was the last five days of the month(July 27th-31st), since I went on a vacation trip to Louisville, Kentucky that stretch, and had a blast. My worst time of the month was the same above for the same reasons.

August

My favorite part of the month: My mom's birthday(August 7th), as I love surprising her with a gift, and it's a great day for my family.

My worst part of the month: The third week of August(Usually between August 15th-21st), since it's now the first week of school, and it's time to go back to teaching mode!

Five Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same for the same reason, and my worst part of the month was the last week of August, since this began Fall semester in college, and started another academic year of college.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same for the same reason. My worst part of the month was the last few days of August, since it began my junior year of high school.

September

My favorite part of the month: This is an easy one: My birthday is September 7th.

My worst part of the month: The remaining days of the month, September 8th-30th. Similar to March, it's another "Battle of the Seasons"-Will it be hot, and muggy? Or will it be cool, and rainy? The weather can never make up its mind.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same for the same reason(I went to a Cincinnati Reds game on my 17th birthday, so it really was an awesome day), and worst part of the month was the homecoming week at my high school(September 17th-21st), since it once again, reminded me of how much of a loner I was.

October

My favorite part of the month: My absolute favorite month of the year has many great moments, and this will be a tough one. I'm going to have to say the World Series of Major League Baseball, simply because it's my favorite sport event of the year, for my favorite sport. It begins in the final days of October(Usually around October 26th).

My worst part of the month: Homecoming has been the first week of October for awhile at the school I'm at, and this week is so hectic for school staff.

Five Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same for the same reason. My worst part of the month was the week of October 8th, since this began "Midterm Week" for Miami University, and I was swarmed with midterms.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same for the same reason. My worst part is completely random, as nothing else impacted this month. It was probably just a random bad day of high school I had.

November

My favorite part of the month: If the World Series carries over into November, this is also my favorite part of a month. If it doesn't, the week of Thanksgiving(Pretty much the final week of November, every year here in the United States of America) is my favorite part, since I love Thanksgiving, and it's a five day break from school.

My worst part of the month: November 8th, 2016 couldn't have been much worse since we elected Donald Trump as president. In a non-election year, the second week of November is my worst, since the World Series is officially over, and it's still not Thanksgiving yet.

Five Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was Thanksgiving week, since I had a well-needed week out of school. My worst part of the month was November 7th, since it was the day after we re-elected Barack Obama, and everyone on campus argued about the election. It was a miserable day to be at my college.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was still Thanksgiving week, for the same reasons as above. My worst part of the month was any other time of the month, since it was a drag to get to break.

December

My favorite part of the month: Another easy one: Christmas Day(December 25th).

My worst part of the month: The first two weeks of December, since I'm not on Winter Break yet, and all I can do is wait for that to come.

Five Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same as above for the same reason. At the time, Miami University's finals week was the first week of December, so this was obviously my worst part.

Ten Years Ago: My favorite part of the month was the same as above for the same reason, and worst part of the month was the same for the same reason.
