Would you keep it and say it's their misfortune and your lucky day, or would you return the money?

I would return the money. Now I don't always call them out on it. I've been to restaurants where the waiter / waitress will give me extra stuff I didn't order and then charge me only for what I ordered in the hopes I would give them a better tip if I got free food and it worked - I gave them a bigger tip then I would have otherwise given them. However I know these people did on purpose. When its no intentional I return the cash. My integrity is worth more than $3.00
I'd return it if I noticed it on the spot. A cashier once gave me an additional note (equivalent to US$7+) and I returned it. I believe strongly in karma, and so far it has worked out well. I misplaced mobile phones and cameras several times and I usually get them back. The exception is one time I was pickpocketed for my phone but that is not due to my own mistake of leaving it somewhere and forgetting about it.
Respect ✌
I’ve had this happen so many times. I always return the money. The majority of the time the cashier disagrees with me and tries to make me keep the money. I’ve never kept it. I’ve even forgotten to pay for something and went back to pay. I don’t want anything that’s not mine.
I most likely wouldn't notice before leaving the store, because I suck at math and rarely check what I get back. But if I did notice, I'd give the money back, because I know the cashier would get in trouble, having been a cashier myself.
So you wouldn't notice if they short change you as well?
Not good, check your change lol
I don't pay in cash pretty much ever, so it's not a huge problem. But no, I wouldn't notice if I got too little money back either. If I get the right bill back, I don't check the coins.
Honestly I don't even normally count the chump change, but if I notice and I'm right there I'm going to hand it back. But if I left the building and I realize the cashier gave me an extra 10 cents I'm not going to go all the way back
I would return it. I use to keep the books at a grocery store and I once gave someone too much money for their coinstar (the coin counting machine) and it was over by about $200. I'm glad she counted it and handed it back.
Lucky lol
Yeah... I really needed the job at that time

I clicked i would return it by mistake lol, i'd keep it if they gave me to much change.
Princess 🙊 who dare you 😛
I'm a honest lol thats why.
I would return it as soon as possible. But that’s only if it’s possible to go directly back to that cashier. I work in retail. If you tell a manager someone gave you too much change, they can get in a lot of trouble. And sometimes lose their job.
I don't even check that close, so I'd usually trust their judgment and keep it. If the difference is a large amount and it's noticeable, I'd probably give it back.
Return if I noticed right away. Being a cashier was my first job as a teen and we'd get in trouble if our register was short
Have you ever had to pay it back? I once did.
I'd return it, people make honest mistakes and shouldn't be labeled a thief or lose their jobs for them.
Return it. I'm a cashier, I know how much trouble we can get in for accidentally giving out too much change. I wouldn't wanna do that to someone
Return. So they don't get in trouble when they count the drawer later.
I rarely count my change so over a lifetime I'll probably come close to even.
Honestly I never even check. So if on the off chance I figured I had some extra and it was from a previous transaction, I wouldn’t even be close enough to go return it.
This depends. If it was a dollar or less I'd keep it as it's not worth the hassle. If more then it depends on whether or not they were an asshole.
All these people saying they’d return it are LIARS. everyone would keep it. Including me.
I’ve done both before. Only with petty amounts though.
I've already been in this situation and I have returned any extra change
Im keeping it unless they say something
Happened to me plenty of times. I return it.
I would return it because it's like stealing.
I would tell them of their mistake & return it.
