How bad would it be for my future and career if I got fired from my first job?

I’m 26 and currently 4 months into my first real job, please don’t judge… I know I made many mistakes with my life but that’s why I’m trying to set it on a better path and I have plans to go back to college. So the thing is, I’m working hard but somehow the place I’m working at expects a lot even though we are dangerously understaffed. My biggest fear right now would be to get fired from my first job at my age and after just a few months, it was hard enough to land a job in my conditions so I don’t have a choice to be picky… I’m thinking if I get fired under these circumstances it would be hard for me to get another job again. Am I right to be that scared of termination? Could it set me back even further?

Don’t worry about it one little bit. If you get fired, just put the job and your responsibilities on your CV/resume and tell any future employer the reason you left was because it was a temporary job, or that you were going back to college, or that you wanted a career change. Give any other reason other than that you were fired, but list other references on your CV/resume in case they want recommendations. Another option is to not include the job on your CV/resume at all if you fear a new employer will seek to contact them about you. Even if the worst happens, eventually you will get another job and this one you have now will become increasingly less significant as time goes on.
