When a person says that they will suddenly be busy and will not be able to go out with you, is he indirectly saying that he does not want to see you?

I met a colleague who is not my age, with whom to talk, my mother was the one who asked him to talk to me and make me reflect on my problems, we talked and he told me when he would return and I told him when he could and he told me that it be in a week or a month but that he come back, he seemed to want to talk to me again and at the end of the talk he told me that I had seemed strange but interesting but one day I went to his house and he told me that maybe we would talk Friday afternoon but I don't know if I could because maybe I would be busy.

I think it's an indirect way of telling me that he doesn't want to see me, what do you think? I think that if he wants him not to talk to him anymore, well, he doesn't talk to him anymore because if maybe he doesn't like me, I think he should have told me
