Why do dreams (made from our own consciousness) seem strange/ foreign to us- the dreamer?

why are our dreams so confusing to us?

Why do dreams (made from our own consciousness) seem strange/ foreign to us- the dreamer?

(I had typed this whole thing perfectly, but it deleted, so here’s the short version):

I mean, we will be confused or even frightened at some moments.

We just don’t even understand them or why we had them.

Sometimes it takes us time to understand why and sometimes we just forget, and never know why.

It’s different from someone simply mentioning something we are familiar with and like, I. e.:

“hey so and so, would you like a Disney-themed bachelors/ bachelorettes party?” And you, loving “all things Disney,” reply “yes! That idea makes total sense and I’d love it!”

It just makes sense. It resonates. The items make sense and the overall idea makes sense. (The train of thought is what I’m going with here).

Yet, when we have dreams, constructed by US, we are left confused. While some may be easy to understand (like the meaning of

Or the reason we dreamt it), I. e.:

“oh no wonder I dreamt of the Avatar ship and peoples because I had watched that movie last night, anyways.”

Easy to understand.

Why do dreams (made from our own consciousness) seem strange/ foreign to us- the dreamer?

But many of our dreams we don’t understand at all, don’t resonate, and come off as ‘totally foreign’ to us. Why.

(Now this may seem confusing, if you know, you know).

Why do dreams (made from our own consciousness) seem strange/ foreign to us- the dreamer?

Thanks, and all ideas welcome!

Is it the part of us thinking free from what’s “normal?”

If we can’t track the logic, is it because it is the version of us that isn’t thinking the way society has probably shaped us to think (in some way)?

Perhaps us dreaming is free from all stereotypes and “norms” and that’s why we don’t always understand it?

What do you say?

I mean- us of all people should get it! It’s in our own head lol 😂 we shouldn’t “for fun” ask friends or tell them about it, not I don't know therapists if that’s what people do- because if it’s a thought in our mind- conscious or subconscious- we ought to understand it 80% if not 100% I’m gonna lose it over this one lmao
