Why do so many storm photos involve an umbrella struggle?

Since both the UK and parts of the USA are being hit by storms I think it's time for a windy question. Why do news sites love to post pictures of people struggling with umbrellas in storms?

The usual cliche is someone standing in the middle of nowhere for absolutely no reason other than to destroy an umbrella. Go on google any storm and I'll guarantee there's some idiot trying to protect themselves with a flimsy broken umbrella.

You can't really photograph the wind, but you can take photos that show the effect of the wind. So, you see umbrella pictures, and you see pictures of trees bent over by the gusts of wind.

I think it's because people don't take photos when they are hit by a tree, prevent a boat from sinking, or are struck by a lightning... and such.
