Stare at a woman repeatedly but never speak to her. I'm talking about over the course of weeks/months in a day time setting, not a drunk night at the bar.

This guy who is a couple years above me at university is always staring at me and we make *intense* eye contact. It has been going on for weeks now. Not to sound creepy, but I've watched him and he doesn't do this to other girls.

Please don't tell me to approach him, because it isn't that sort of question (I'm not actively trying to get him to talk to me).

I just want to know WHY he stares but doesn't say anything or take it to the next level. If he isn't going to act on it, shouldn't he move on to the next instead of continually looking at me? He's a popular athlete and good looking, so I doubt he's lacking in confidence, and he could definitely attract other girls quickly, so why does he do this?

Guys, have you ever/would you ever keep making eye contact and stare at one girl over a period of time without either moving on or actually doing something about it? I mean, from my perspective it seems like a waste of time, no?

Very good point, and I guess you are right in wondering what the heck! Speaking for myself, if I find someone attractive, I would never be tired of looking at her, day after day. But if she seems uncomfortable because of this undue attention, may be I will try to be less noticeable.

Secondly, if I find someone attractive and I also like her so much to be in a relationship, the only thing holding me back from going forward is if I am certain she won't be willing. So I won't make a move for the fear of rejection or unnecessary drama!

Since you have plainly said that you aren't interested in him, I think he has go the signals so he is just happy to enjoy your company as long as he can!

My advice is ignore him, and if something is creepy, dial 911. :-D

Lastly, I guess there are some weird guys who think they can impress anyone with their sheer karma or "mental energy". May be he is trying his magic on you! ;-)

Even Brad Pitt has approach anxiety. Talking to a stranger is nerve racking and tough, even if they are of the same gender.

Ask yourself this. Why haven't you approached him? My guess is he hasn't approached you for the same reason. If you really like him and are sick of waiting, why don't you make the first move. There is nothing wrong with that. Some guys just need a green like to know its safe to advance. Otherwise they are afraid of looking like a creeper.

Actually I think I did answer your question. He simply finds you attractive. Guys are visual and if he finds a girl attractive, its really hard not to look. For as long as you are there in the room, he's going to sneak glances because he just can't help it. He's then either going to approach you, not approach you because he really doesn't want to date you he just likes what he sees, or not approach you because he is nervous.

From experience, I would 100% say he is either
(1) - a very very shy and possibly insecure guy who thinks you are attractive but doesn’t have the guts and may even be intimidated by you due to feelings of inferiority towards you (even though he thinks ur cute lol 😭🤣)

2- a literal narcissist. Research narcissists and inform yourself on their behaviors. Dr. Ramani on YouTube has great videos that really help you to decide if your man in question could be a narc or have those tendencies. If so, he is a complete waste of your time and may even attack your self esteem ( I know from experience sadly 🫤 )

I'm kind of guilty of doing this right now, though I hope I'm not that obvious. The reason I don't make a move is because I'm pretty sure she doesn't like me: she doesn't try to strike up conversations, hang around my proximity, or make my approaches easy. I have taken her with me to a study group, but when we talked, I felt that she wasn't attracted. She just seems like a nice person with absolutely no sexual interest in me. Long story short, he might like you, but he might not risk his ego and approach you because he doesn't think you like him back.

He finds you attractive and likes what he sees but doesn't want to approach you because maybe he's nervous or doesn't have enough balls to go up and come talk to you even though you two have been staring (intense staring) for months. He might be thinking that if he talked to you that nothing would ever happen between you and him like you would never like him like that or it wouldn't go anywhere like it's inevitable. Something like that. That's what would be going through my mind.

LOL, just because he's an athlete doesn't mean he can't become weak at the knees or become a total baby around a certain girl. It happens with all guys at a certain point in life. He thinks you're really beautiful and is scared sh*tless of talking to you.

It doesn't matter if someone is good looking or an athlete they can still be shy, especially towards someone they like. I guess either he is exactly that or something like he knows you from somewhere lol but I doubt that if you both make intense eye contact.
