Would you ever "slap sense into someone"?

I'm watching MythBusters right now. They were testing the myth that slapping someone can sharpen their senses (try saying that ten times fast) if they are disoriented, panicked, etc. After the experiments that they did, they called it "confirmed". Have you ever slapped sense into someone or would you? Have you ever been on the receiving end?

Yes, a fellow recruit when I was in marine bootcamp.

26 hours into the crucible he wanted to give up, he was tired, sleepy an was just panting. So I slapped him in the face and yelled at him that we only got a couple more hours before we become Marines. Yah I did slap him back to reality lol. I wasn't suppose to hit any of my fellow recruits but the DI's made an exception at that time ;)

I've been slapped while having a panic attack and it actually startled me enough to get a grip on what was going on around me lol think about it like being asleep and having cold water thrown on you, you become alert and awake :)
