He "read" my text message but didn't reply?

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 4 months, and in the beginning things were pretty good but I always noticed that he would want to end our dates rather early (8 or 9...sometimes 7pm!) because he would want to get enough sleep for work. Normally this isn't a problem, but he works 8-5 mon-fri every week. He isn't going to school or anything (not that I'm judging him, but what I mean is that he has the exact same schedule every week and otherwise has nothing to do) and he always puts his like new movie releases or new game releases, sports games, and virtually anything that is important to him before me. ONE TIME he missed a basketball game for me but hurried home to catch the last part of it. Well anyways, last night I was having car trouble just about 10-15 minutes after we had exchanged "goodnight" texts, and I texted him explaining what had happened...assuming that as my boyfriend he would at least reply. He actually opened up and read the message, but didn't text me back. The only other person who lived in that area was my ex, so I then called him and he came to help me out. I was so sad that my ex came to help me but my own boyfriend blatantly ignored my text (opened it up, read it, then went back to sleep) just so that he could get rest for work. I don't ever bother him for things like this and I didn't expect much but one would think a boyfriend would at least respond and ask if I needed anything. I feel like he literally doesn't care about me at all.

Yeah that's messed up. You need to talk to him about his priorities. Obviously he doesn't need to spend all of his free time with you (and I don't think you expect that) but he shouldn't always care more about video games, sports, and whatnot than you. My girlfriend and I have been going out for 3 months. I only get to see her during the weekends but I try to spend as much time as humanly possible with her, despite our school/work schedules. Even if that means me being a little tired every now and then, it's definitely worth it. Maybe not everyone feels the same, but I don't think it's wrong of you to expect more from him.

And if that was the only problem, I would probably tell you to just work with each other, but him ignoring you when you are stranded...well that's pretty fucked up and I would advise you not to waste anymore time with him. I would NEVER do that to anybody I cared about, much less my own girlfriend. It's your decision, but people don't change unless they want to, and from what you've said, I just don't see this guy caring enough to put in the effort you deserve.
