Boyfriend sounds different on the phone?

Hello,
I have been with my bf for a year and a half. I thought we had a great relationship, but I am doubting it now...

He always seeks out seeing me after work and we talk on the phone throughout the day. However, I planned a family vacation in another country and have been apart from my boyfriend for about a week now. He still texts me and tells me sweet stuff, but when we talk on the phone his voice is so different! He sounds so tired, not excited (unlike how he always used to be), bored, and a little fake. I am so confused now. I feel like if I have to be with him 24/7 for him to be excited or else he would drift away immediately. This is very concerning because i am from another country and I often go there for more than 3 weeks at a time.

I am so confused with my relationship. I am doubting his love for the first time. Please help :(
