Is being called a Ms Goody-Two Shoes several times a compliment or insult?

This is what my then boyfriend used to call me on a couple different occasions. At first, I didn't really care but as time went by, I was starting to think if this is really similar to calling someone ''you're too sweet and a bit boring''.

Well we were younger then (he was then 21 and me 19). I once admitted to never smoking but drinking every now and then during social gatherings and he was like ''It's because you're a goody-two shoes''.

Then there was a time, my mother got into a nasty argument with him because something she didn't like. She kept saying how I'm a home girl and he was like ''I know that, mam... that's why I fell in love with her... and then went on talking about my sweet/innocent manners.

I say that to my wife. She is nice, sweet and a rule follower. I lve her and I love that about her but it isn't what I would do. So as for me, not so much on the goody two shoes side. But maybe she likes that about me sometimes too.

In the very best of tones, it's a teasing remark. So yeah, it's certainly not a compliment in any fashion. But how bad a person means it depends on who they are to you.

True. I think by now, it wouldn't be a compliment if a man within my age range (late 20's to 30ish) were to say that. That wouldn't sound right anymore and I would be wondering what on earth I'm I not doing right since I'm not suppose to be naivee anymore.

It's an insult, basically saying your to goody to take risk. Like if they rob a bank you'd call the police on yourselves.

I think he says that more as a term of endearment. I bet he sees you as an innocent. But if you ever feel he says it derogatorily youthful tell him.
