Mom freaks out over everything?

My mom is a control freak. Today my younger sister thought it would be a good idea to take her blanket and rub it all over my head. I told her not to "rub a f***ing blanket on my head". She belted out "mom, she swore at me". As soon as my mom found out what I'd said, she flipped. I said that she had said way worse things to us before, and she blew a gasket. She yelled at me, and said that I should just move out, while grabbing me by my throat and throwing me out of the kitchen. When I tried to resist, she shoved me down the stairs. I don't understand why she lost it, since my sister is 12. It's not like she was offended by me saying that. My moms boyfriend says way worse, so it's not like she hasn't heard swearing before. My mom and I fight like this sometimes, and it gets to the point where I'm hurt a little, and keep myself up all night, crying. The next day my face is swollen and I'm sleep deprived and can't go to school the next day. I don't know what to think or how to handle this. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

you need to talk to a counsellor for sure, missie. if you don't want your friends to see you at school talking to your counsellor, go super early in the morning when there's almost no one around at school. ...or tell your friends, ask their parents for help (counsellor's the safest bet though). I'm glad you're posting here, because it shows you aren't scared to get help. but its much more important that you tell someone you know or your school counsellor about this - make sure, whoever it is you tell, it is in strictest confidence, and its an adult. we can only do so much online. id love to help you out, but I'm betting we live nowhere near each other, and you need someone close by.

Do you think she is having a difficult time facing the fact that you're growing up and she's afraid that as you get older she won't know what to do as far as discipline? I'm not trying to preach, but even if your Mom and Mom's boyfriend say those types of things do you really think it's ok to talk your sister like that. What about respect for her? Just think also of the example you are setting for her, you don't want her to be talking like that also do you? Maybe you could be the one to break the bad habit of the cursing, I'm just sayin'.

says it all right there. your mother is obviously a horrible woman, or else she would be in a decent relationship (marriage) by now, especially considering the age of you and your sister.

No, my mother and her bf. Have been together for five years. He lives with us, and is usually ok. My mom and dads relationship failed miserably, and he ended up being abusive. I think she acosiates all that sh*t from the past with marrige, and that's why she doesn't want to get married again. Thanks for your help though.

Sounds like he wasn't the only one who ended up being abusive. it takes 2 to tango. your father wasn't the only problem in the relationship. sure, your mother and her boyfriend have been together for 5 years, but considering what's going on in your house; swearing, physical fighting, etc, it doesn't sound like he's a winner either. good luck.

Oh, trust me. I know. But in this situation, it has nothing to do with him. And perhaps I wasn't clear-my father wasn't abusing my mother, he was abusing my brother and I. But thanks ne ways, I'm gonna need luck.
