How can someone just use someone for an ego boost?

it hurts the other person so much... and then they claim they don't feel anything for them afterwards. I don't see how its possible or how someone couldn't see how that would hurt the other person, or how they wouldn't care.

The reasoning behind it is as simple as this: Love

Strange huh? it's that feeling in our chest/gut that makes us or breaks us. Reality check- love goes two ways; you can have your peaks or your bottoms. It's up to how you interpret those "feelings" and correctly apply value to the situation.

So my way of understanding your pain (or futher explaining it) is this:

Yippe! One less loser between you and Mrs Right.

See how you view it as pain because you care about her? I view it as time to celebrate because she may not have cared about you the same way.

Well if the person can get away with it, then they don't have a reason not to. I find it a bit unfortunate since it gives people a reason to be untrusting. But if someone gets hurt, it's his own fault.

a lot of people do this because they have dealt with rejection in the past, so they go for someone they know is super in to them to make themselves feel better; making them feel more powerful than they use to be. Often times they do this to get the attention of the person they have been rejected by. At the same time, they block the initial feelings of being hurt from this, so they don't think about/what to think about how it effects the other person and convince themselves it isn't that big of a deal, and they will be fine.

I'm very sorry you had to go through that. I don't understand why someone can do that or even say that to another person. Some people know their doing it, though. You think they don't but they do. It's quite scary. I do believe in Karma, though. They can keep doing it to others but what goes around comes around.

Some people ENJOY hurting others, and using them to boost their egos. They're called egoistic, or just plain jerks and jerkettes.

Because they're SO hurting and have such low self worth that is what they do get by and cope... use others to build them up. Terrible I know. No They don't GAF that it hurts anyone else.
