Ahhh this question. I remember this happening all too often on this other app I used to use. It was mostly about role play and chatting, but people would date (naturally). There was always that question "is it considered cheating if I do dirty rp with someone else while I'm taken?" My answer: role play or not, it's the equivalent as stimulating the effect of sex in person. You're aware that you're doing this. It's not with your partner. You can say it's only role play, but is it really?
If with others outside the primary relationship,
your SO could judge this as either
a) heavy flirtation, nothing more
b) erotic stimulation ala viagra that she taps into as a benefit
c) cheating with others, not being exclusive
Best to find a gal that either
1. finds such practices A-OK
2. is so overwhelmingly attractive, you'd never give a 2nd thought to playing such games

Who are you role playing with?
Cheating, depends on what you guys consider to be fine. Some people have open relationships... so.. they hook up with other people and they are not cheating.
Ask yourself if your SO would be okay with it, if you told her about it. If you think she wouldn't, then it's probably cheating. If in doubt. Ask. Ask, but... be willing to commit to respect her limits.
I'd say if you have to lie to her about it, or it did/would upset her, than yes.
