My boyfriend and his sister are way too close?

I am starting to get really irritated by my boyfriend and his sister. They are constantly talking on the phone and sometimes he will call her before me if he has news about something. I believe he tells her everything about our relationship. I understand families being close but it is just bizarre to me. The was they act when they are together is strange also. He follows her around like a puppy dog and totally ignores me. There is always this tension between them and awkwardness. Has anyone else experienced this behavior?
