Do you call your partner by their first name or with a pet name?

I generally call my girlfriend both with her name and pet names roughly equally, but I noticed she almost only calls me with pet names and diminutives of my name.
She calls me by my first name only when she's serious or upset about something.

I'm exactly like your girlfriend. I will only use my bf's name if I am having a serious conversation with him or I am angry at him. I will also use his name sometimes when I tell him that I love him. For example "I love you so much *insert name of my bf*". To me, that has even more meaning than using a pet name. But, the majority of the time, I will call him things like baby, babe, sweetie, my love and handsome.

It's like she wants to make it clear it's addressed to me, and not nick and pet names.
