I love my boyfriend, but he's sucks at being in a relationship?

I don't know what to do... I've tried everything from hinting to what I want to straight out telling him. Now don't get me wrong Valentine's day he completely surprised me. When it comes to opening up..He doesn't though, he doesn't know what to do when I'm upset (esp. if I cry), he never does anything to show any compassion for me.. (unless its a holiday obviously?!) I always try to do things for him to show him that I care, from making an awesome dinner for him, to...hmhm other things :). I feel like he loves his dog more than me, and we talk more during you know what than any other time. I even tried taking interest in his favorite sports. I love this guy more than anything, we get along really well until he's a butt head lol and we do quite a bit in common, but I think we're on different paths...I really have know idea what to do? ^SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!^

Maybe he just doesn't see it as serious a relationship as you do?

In such a relationship...well there's nothing much you can do other than make an ultimatum to be serious or end it- which you won't do as you love him and don't want to leave him. He has you stuck in the non-serious relationship zone where he's happy being and there's no getting out of there without seriously rocking the boat and risking losing that.

And there's no problem with loving a dog more than any person. That would be a big plus for him in my book.
