My boyfriend kinda blew off our two year anniversary?

It was our two year anniversary today and my boyfriend kinda blew it off. He spends a few days a week over at my place and he was over last night and I saw him for a minute this morning before I had to go to work.
I mentioned a few days ago I would cook dinner and we could do something. Well today’s the day and he decided to work extra late and then I’m pretty sure he went to a friends house.
I took the time to buy and prep dinner and he didn’t come nor did I get an explanation. He said he’d call at 11pm. It’s now 11:40 and he hasn’t called.
im honestly disappointed and don’t know what to do. I plan on just texting him happy anniversary and going to bed.

I agree with In_Trance below. I'm not making excuses for your boyfriend, but maybe he didn't realize today was the day. Did you mention anything about dinner or your anniversary earlier today? I know I personally have a hard time remembering what day it is, especially since this whole covid, WFH thing started. I say text him happy anniversary. He'll realize his mistake and hopefully make it up to you.
