Why would my wife ask me this?

Me and my wife are childhood sweethearts, we have been together for 15 years. I'm 30, she's 32, and we have two daughters together oldest is 15 and the youngest is 1 year old.

Randomly today she asked me, "You're not bored of me are you?" Of course, I said no cause I don't want to be with any other woman except her. I gave her reassurance that I'd never get bored of her.

Why would she ask me this?

I would say it's common. Women mostly (not all) like constant approval and assurance from their significant others, she might already know the answer to that question she just wants to hear you say it. They may even ask "You still love me right" like it's obvious you love her and she loves you so It's not from doubt, but hearing the person they love to say it to them makes them feel better. Also given that in your younger years you guys were more probably much more affectionate compared to now. As time passes you can sometimes lose that and so they can get worried. so seek reassurance.

I think she was maybe feeling insecure and it’s usually not the guy who makes a woman feel that way. Sometimes I could be watching a show or reading a book and the relationship goes rocky and all of a sudden I’m scared that my boyfriend is going to get tired of me. It’s a pretty normal feeling nowadays because of the high consumerism sometimes people feel as if they could also be replaced bc of how society views things and the whole idea if it’s broken but a new one. I know personally I occasionally will feel like that bc there’s so many ways to meet new people I feel inadequate for my boyfriend and that he could easily just dump me and find someone new. The best thing to do is just reassure her and maybe if she’s feeling this way do something a little extra nice to show you appreciate her like buy her some flowers or write her a sweet note.

I bought her some flowers today. That really livened her mood. She has reassurance that I will never get bored of her.
